Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We will be hosting our second annual Zombie Shoot on Saturday, October 24th 2009 at the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club in Northampton Township, Bucks County PA. Here is our initial infomercial on the shoot:

2009 Zombie Shoot Video

We have spent time listening to what you want in a Zombie Shoot and what you don't. Here are three of the major things we learned from your comments:

1. You do not like long lines and long waits between shooting evolutions.
2. You want and expect the range staff to be into the theme of the shoot.
3. You like theatrics and expect all the shooting evolutions should reflect the theme.

Well we heard you at <span style="font-weight: bold">LRGC</span>!

To deal with the lines, we will be limiting the number of shooters at this event. This way we can better manage the flow of the event and limit the waiting. As to our staff and their commitment to the theme, well hopefully the video above gives you a peak into how we plan on running this event. Due to the success of last year's shoot, we have doubled our budget for props, targets and "theatrics" this year. We will also have a prizes for best zombie hunter outfit and best zombie hunting couple. So feel free to bring along your significant other. I'll have more details on this later.

I will post information in this thread as soon as our registration is open. So please check back periodically. We will be requiring pre-registration for this shoot and there will be no walk-on's permitted. Once we sell out, you will be placed on a waiting list. So my suggestion is don't snooze on the registration if this type of shoot is of interest to you.

For those traveling from out of town, we will be working with local hotels in the area to offer discounts to shoot participants. More on that later. For those planning to fly in, either Phila or Newark airports would be suggested. We will have food & drink available for purchase. For safety reasons, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

If you have any questions please feel free email me at [email protected] Also, if you are a vendor and interested in setting up a table at this shoot let me know.

Get Ready...They're Coming,

Gary

<span style="font-weight: bold">UPDATE</span> 7/23/09

Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We are planning to open up registration on <span style="font-weight: bold">August 24th.</span> I will post the link to this thread when it's open. Unlike the DPMS event is St. Cloud, we will have a limited number of shooting spots available. The reason for the delay on registration is the overwhelming response from those wanting to provide sponsorship, door and raffle prizes etc. So the delay has allowed us to provide more cool stuff for you!

Take Care,
Gary

Re: 2009 LRGC Zombie Shoot

Nick,

We are working on that over the next several weeks. Last year we had 85 shooters and two shooting areas to accomidate them. This year we are using the entire club. This will add capacity and allow us to include a shotgun stage. I am guessing we'll cap it at between 120-125.

Regards,
Gary

Re: 2009 LRGC Zombie Shoot

Thank you Stacey. I sent your info PM to Christine who is handling our vendor relations. Last year we did have a far number of precision shooters on the firing line. I belive the plan is to have that evolution again. I should have a final word on that shortly.

Take Care,
Gary

Re: 2009 LRGC Zombie Shoot

Important Facts about our Zombie Shoot and Registration

We will be launching registration for our Zombie shoot on August 24th at 8:00pm EDT. We are launching registration in the evening due to the fact that many employers block access to gun related forums and many of you who have emailed me work jobs where you don’t have internet access during the day.
As this shoot has been advertised on well over a dozen boards, I have decided to post the registration link on only one forum. This way no advantage is given to the members of any one particular board or forum. We fully expect this shoot to sell out within the first hour and as such, it might very well be sold out in the time it takes me to post to all the forums. So here is the only site where the registration link will be posted:

http://www.therallypoint.org

The link will be posted in the Mid-Atlantic NY, PA, NJ Forum located here:

http://www.therallypoint.org/forum/index.php?topic=6544.0

I will start a new thread call [span style='font-weight: bold;']ZOMBIE SHOOT REGISTRATION[/span]
You will be able to register up to two shooters per registration. Just because you complete the registration form does not mean you’ve been accepted. We anticipate hundreds of registrations for just 100 shooting spots. You will be notified via email by August 27th if you’ve made the list. Only those making the list will be notified. We will be maintaining a waiting list. Should we receive a cancellation, we will go down the waiting list in the order they were received.
For those who make the list, we will need to receive payment in full by no later than September 10th. If we fail to receive payment by the 10th, your spot will be forfeited and given to the next person on the waiting list. Once we receive payment, you will get a confirming email to that effect. We accept personal checks and US postal money orders ONLY! NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED. The price for this event is as follows:

•LRGC Members: $60.00 each
•Non-LRGC Members: $75.00 each
•Non-Shooting Guests: Free

We shoot in rain, snow, sleet, or shine. We will only delay or cancel our shoot if lightening or weather conditions that would jeopardize personal safety are present. So far we’ve never had to cancel a match. That said, for those who make it in and send their money on time, you can cancel up until October 10th and receive a full refund. After October 10th, no refunds will be given unless we cancel the shoot. If that should happen, your money will be refunded.

If you are not a current member of LRGC, you will need to be at least 18 years of age to shoot at this event. We regret this but insurance requirements dictate our path. Minor children of non-members are welcome to attend as guests, but cannot participate in the course of fire. All participants will be required to sign our standard release of liability to participate in the shoot.

Remember this is a shoot and not a match. You will not receive a numeric score. Instead you will need to “survive” each evolution in order to qualify for the grand prize. The rulings of the range safety officers are final. So no chin music! If you fail an evolution you will still be eligible of all of our other prizes and trust me, they are considerable! We have over $9000.00 worth of products, gift certificates and coupons on our prize table. We will also have prizes for the best dressed Zombie Hunting Couple. And yes “couple” is defined as one male and one female. Only one of the couple has to be a registered shooter to qualify for the couple’s prize.

There will be two distinct courses of fire available for you to participate in at this event:

1.The Standard Rifle/Carbine Course (i.e. AR, AK, FAL, M1A, M1, rifles etc)
2.The Scoped Precision Course

This is a 3-gun style match. All shooters must fire the pistol and shotgun stages with those firearms. Those stages are the SAME for everybody. When it comes to the rifle stages, you must make a choice. You will register as a rifle/carbine shooter, or a scoped precision rifle shooter. You can shoot one or the other, but not both. If you are uncertain which way to go, please know that the precision rifle shooter will be expected to hit .5MOA targets out to 200Y. The rifle/carbine shooter will be presented with actual size targets at various distances from 10 to 200 yards.

You will need to pick which course of fire you want to shoot at time of registration. Remember, you cannot shoot both. In order to participate in the precision course you will need a bolt or semi-auto rifle of .30 caliber or larger with at least a 10X optic. Please note .50 BMG’s are not permitted at LRGC.
For the Rifle Course you will need a semi-automatic center fire rifle capable of firing at least 8 rounds without reloading. So for all you M1 Garand shooters, feel free to bring your War Babies!

Both courses of fire will involve a pistol stage so you will need a pistol with a strong side holster and two spare magazines or speed loaders. Both courses of fire will also include a shotgun stage. Please note only shot shells with #7.5 or smaller shot is permitted (i.e. 7.5, 8 or 9 shot only)

Please be prepared with the following:

Precision Rifle- 40 Rounds
Standard Rifle- 150 rounds
Pistol- 50 rounds
Shotgun-40 rounds

A shooter must begin, and successfully complete all evolutions in order to qualify for ranked prizes. Should stoppages occur, It shall be the final decision of the range staff observing at the time as to whether such stoppage was resolvable by the shooter (or caused by operator error / poor maintenance) or a range malfunction. They alone are authorized to grant a re-shoot, or consider the shooter overcome. This decision is final and without appeal.

Please be sure to dress for both the event and for conditions. Food and drink will be available for purchase at very reasonable prices for all participants and guests. No alcohol is permitted on site PERIOD! We permit SBR’s, SBS’s and suppressed weapons. Please have your ATF forms handy. If you are a sworn LEO and wish to shoot with your full auto duty weapon, that is permitted but it must stay in semi-auto mode only. Please be prepared to show your agency identification. Other than that, no full autos are permitted. No armor piercing or tracer ammo and we request you not shoot SS109 or M855 at our steel targets. You may shoot this ammo at our paper and polymer targets.

Please plan on arriving at the club no later than 8:30am. We have a lot to do and much to cover in our opening briefing and we need you to be punctual. We are working on securing discounts at local hotels for those coming from out of town. More on participating hotels will be posted later. Also, we plan on having a vendor’s area for your shopping pleasure.

Prizes will be awarded after the final shooter has completed their course of fire. You will need to be present to win. LRGC has no provisions to ship any prize. It is important that you know the laws of your State and understand you are responsible for adhering to any State specific rules regarding any firearm accessory you might win i.e. don’t be taking 30 round magazines back to NJ!

Feel free to email me with any question you may have at [email protected]

Regards,
Gary

Re: 2009 LRGC Zombie Shoot

Many of you have inquired about will there be T-shirts available this year. Well do I have news for you...!!!

t-shirt_template_4color1.jpg

The back of the shirt will contain the names of all of our sponsors and as items are still rolling in, we have not completed the design for the back of the shirt yet. Here's the better news, each registered shooter gets one for FREE! So please know your size at time of registration. Additional shirts may be purchased at time of registration. I doubt shirts will be available at the shoot for purchase. If they are, I can promise you they will be more expensive than ordering them at registration time.

Remember, the registration link will be put up at 2000hrs Monday the 24th here––> http://www.therallypoint.org/forum/index.php?board=28.0] http://www.therallypoint.org/forum/index.php?board=28.0[/url] That's 8:00pm for all you civvies... It will contain all the info you need to know about the shoot and a hot link to sign up for the event. As this shoot will most likely sell out in the first hour, I've tried to post as much detail as I could about this event in advance. Frankly, the time for you to ask any questions is now. You can reach me at [email protected]

Good luck to all those would be Zombie Hunters! Monday fast approaches.

Re: 2009 LRGC Zombie Shoot Info on Registration 8/17

Guys,

We've had some issues with getting mail delivered to our Club address. You may get your payment back returned undeliverable from the USPS. If this happens, please use the following address:

Langhorne Rod and Gun Club
251 Stoneyford Road
Holland, PA 18966
Attn: Practical Rifle Program

If you have sent your payment, you will receive an email acknowledgement from us within 48 hours of receipt. Please let me know if you've sent payment but have not received an acknowledgement in a timely fashion. Due to all the chaos with the USPS, we are extending the deadline for registration to the 20th of September. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this situation has caused.

Re: LRGC Zombie Shoot Updated on 9/7 GSG-AK Raffle

FAQ

1. Will Zombie be run/scored like a typical 3-Gun event? No. In fact there will be no numeric score given to any participant. Instead, like in a real life Zombie encounter, you must only survive the interaction with the Zombie. We use the term "shoot" as opposed to "match" for this reason. Again, let me be clear, there will be no numeric scores given at this shoot. Your goal and focus should be on neutralizing the Zombie infection and completing the evolution in the time allotted. If you are looking for a competitive match style event where shooters are ranked in order of their performance, then Zombie may not be for you. Instead, if you want a shoot that is designed to be a fun, safe, theme oriented event, then we believe you will find exactly that at Zombie 2009!

2. How can I tell if I survived the encounter during a shooting evolution? You will be required to complete a specific shooting evolution and several non-shooting evolutions during the day. You will be given what we feel is a fair amount of time to do so. If you complete the stage you survive. If you fail to complete the stage in the proscribed time, hit a no-shoot target or commit a safety violation, you get "ripped". The benefit of the doubt will always go to the shooter.

3. I've heard and read about this term "ripped." What does it mean? In our original 2008 Zombie shoot each participant was issued an index card and if they failed to complete a stage, a portion of their card was torn away or "ripped" by the Range Safety Officer running the evolution. The term "ripped" has stuck with our program to this day. In 2009 you will be issued a laminated Zombie card and instead of it being ripped we will be using a hole punch to designate failure to complete a stage on your Zombie card.

4. So what does it mean if I survive? At the conclusion of the match, all survivors will be issued a special colored prize ticket. Once all shooters have completed the course of fire, we will begin drawing from the pool of survivor tickets. The first ticket pulled will have first pick from the prize table. The second ticket will have second pick and so on. You must be present at the drawing to win.

5. So if I get ripped I might as well go home then? Absolutely not! We have many prizes to give away. After the survivors have picked from the prize table, we will then turn to those with one rip, then two rips, then three rips etc. until there are no prizes left to award.

6. Are there any other ways for me to win prizes at the Zombie shoot? Yes indeed. We will be giving away awards for the Best Zombie Hunting Couple (1), also a prize will be given to the shooter traveling the farthest to shoot with us.(2) We will also have a 50/50 raffle as well.

7. Will there be ammunition for sale at the shoot? No, please plan on bringing what you need and a little bit extra. If you fail to plan properly, you will be at the mercy of your teammates or worse the Zombie Hoard. Take it from me, the Zombies are very unforgiving!

8. I don't have a shotgun or pistol, or rifle can I still compete in the shoot? Well you will need to complete all the evolutions to survive. If you do not have a specific firearm you will be at the mercy of your teammates. You will also need to demonstrate to the RSO staff that you can safely operate any firearm you borrow.

9. What if I wish to dispute being "ripped" on a particular evolution; what is the appeals process? There is no appeal of an RSO ripping you. Their judgment is final.

10. Will there be food available at the shoot? Yes, we will have food available for a modest donation. We have a limited selection so if you are on a strict diet or have any medical conditions that require specific food avoidance; you may be wise to bring your own. I believe our Zombie chef is planning on meatball sandwiches and baked ziti this year.

11. Will there be water/soda etc available on site? Yes, we will have bottled water available for purchase as well as other soft drinks for purchase. As a reminder, no alcoholic beverages are permitted on our premise. Please leave any alcohol at home.

12. What's up with the GSG-AK Raffle? The nice folks at King Shooters Supply were kind enough to donate a GSG-AK rifle to the Practical Rifle Program. We elected to raffle it off to help raise funds for Langhorne Rod and Gun Club and the Action Shooting programs. We have offered tickets for sale to our Zombie participants as well as to those reading the various threads on the Internet Boards where we have advertised the shoot. As such, you do not need to be present to win the GSG-AK Raffle. The rifle can be either picked up at King Shooters Supply in King of Prussia PA during normal business hours or it will be shipped to the FFL of the winner's choosing. Due to ATF regulations, the rifle cannot be transferred at the Zombie Shoot. We will pick a runner up just in case the winner fails the NICS check.

13. How is the airsoft stage being run from a safety perspective? The airsoft stage does not involve pointing an airsoft firearm at any other person. Even so, we have an experienced airsoft competitor operating the stage, and all safety protocols that are used in formal competition shall be employed. These include mandatory protective gear, as well as checks to ensure that no harmful item is brought even accidentally into the defined airsoft arena. All participants will be scanned with a metal detecting wand to ensure that no firearms, ammunition, edged weapons or any other possibly dangerous item enters the airsoft arena.

See you on the 24th!,

Gary

Foot notes:

(1)For the purpose of this match the term "Couple" is defined as one (1) registered adult shooter and an adult companion of the opposite sex. Adult is defined as an individual eighteen years of age or older. The companion does not need to be a registered shooter.

(2) We will use the address on your State issued drivers license to determine farthest distance traveled. i.e I just flew in from xxxxx will not qualify.

Re: LRGC Zombie Shoot Updated on 9/7 GSG-AK Raffle

Okay...okay... I give...You win! I have received many emails regarding the Best Dressed Zombie Couple Prize. To sum them all up they went something like...."Hey I want to get decked out in my Zombie Hunting gear but my wife/GF/SO has to _____________(fill in the blank) and can't make the shoot. What about me? What kind of prize can I win?"

I have met with our Sponsor Chairperson today and we have created an additional prize category....

<span style="font-weight: bold">BEST DRESSED ZOMBIE HUNTER!</span>

This prize like the couples prize will be awarded to the participant who in the opinion of the judges best reflects the spirit of this event in their attire. You do not need to survive to win this prize. You must however be a registered shooter to win the best Dressed Zombie Hunter.

So all you would be Zombie Hunters, have at it and dress the part. Oh and the value of this prize award will be significantly greater than your registration fee.

So now you can all stop emailing me!

See you on the 24th!
