I was out shooting at 980 yards today, and right at the begining of a string of shots a coyote ran right into my crosshairs. I had 1 second to range him, he was at about 800 yards. I held under 2 mils, took my shot, and saw the trace go over his back by maybe 6 inches. It scared the crap out of him and he went from a trot to a bound and run.The entire incident was about 4 seconds. The lady that owns the property was standing there and saw him at the same time I did. She was not looking through any kind of optic. I told her that it's probably better I didn't get him, because I would retire from coyote hunting. I have always wanted to shoot one at long range, but getting him on the run is a tough shot. Maybe next time.
