Re: LWRC M6A3 trade for ACR, SCAR, G36, or XCR??????
Here is my opinion through some research and you know what the say opinions are like assholes every body' got one. So with that disclaimer here goes.
I like the AR platform and from the research the LWRC or the HK416 is the creme of the crop of the gas piston world. The POF's get great reviews but for aesthetics I do not like the over sized rail needed to fit over their piston systems.
The ACR in its current configuration is heavy almost 9lbs and with a 2200-2300.00 price range I don't find it intriguing especially as soon as the enhanced version comes out you will be seeing a large price drop for the regular not to mention a bunch of used ones for sale from guys that could not wait to have the ACR. I like the idea of the ACR since its made here in the USA you should have no issues with buying spare parts in the future. I like that you will (if it is actually available) to change to the 6.8spcII with the barrel mags and bolt, but currently they say your zero is lost when you remove the barrel. Since this is a new gun you can be sure there is going to be issues with certain parts and they will need to be worked out. Another reason to wait for the enhanced. Lastly its made by Bushmaster which has not had the greatest of following's. I do like the look of the enhanced and if they drop below the 2k price range I probably would pick one up. and the charging handle does not reciprocate on the ACR.
The Scar is what I think I may pick up next. 7lbs I love the look of the rifle from all accounts it is a solid piece of equipment except they have had issues with a cheap plastic butt stock clip breaking off. There are 3 potential issues that may bother you, besides the price of 2400.00 1. Has a reciprocating charging handle some love it, because you can see your malfunction by location of the CH. You can smash your finger racking the gun on your optics depending on what you use. So that is with the CH. 2. There are currently now barrels available and no time frame given by FHN. So if you were looking to SBR it you have to wait. #3 which is huge in my book. Is you cannot by spare parts. No extra bolts ect. They plan at some point to do so but in a email they released about 9 months ago they said they do not have a time frame. The good thing if it breaks they will fix it, but does you know good at a day at the range or a carbine course or the ever important SHTF.
G36 Here is a link to
Ed @ HDPS he does a lot of UMP and G36 conversions. If I remember correctly you do not need any special paperwork unless you are going to SBR the sl8/g36. But you will need to have 5 parts that are USA made to meet the 922R compliance
I have not used or seen the XCR, but looks pretty cool. Hope this helps
Keep the LWRC and get rid of something else and do one of the above. Or do what I try to do and keep everything and try to add more to the collection. I always kick my self in the ass when I sell a gun.
