I'm looking to get a powder dispenser and I would like comments on these units. It looks like the Chargemaster can separate the scale from the dispenser. Can the Lyman be used as a scale only? It would be nice for weighing bullets, cases, etc. Thanks for any insight.

Re: Lymon 1200DPS 3 vs. RCBS Chargemaster

In early '06, I bought the ChargeMaster. At that time, they had a bunch of units suffer keypad/logic issues and RCBS was very good sending out brand new units w/o the issues.

Some guys here have had their units go down and even the second unit break. All I can see from reading posts here, is that the problem is basically solved and newer units suffer failures less than older ones.

Also at that time, the Lyman was a tad slower, but they came out with a faster motor to speed things up.

There is also the PACT, but even those units have issues, like any other piece of electronic gear, but PACT customer service was slower in replacing units than RCBS was at that time.

I'm using mine right now and after about four years, it's been fine.

Thanks for the info Chris. Are there any owners of the newer Lyman systems that want to share issues good or bad?

I have the Lyman and it works fine. Pretty good service too. I lost my instruction book and called them and it was in my mail box in two days.

I use the Lyman and have had it about two years and have had zero problems with it. I use it loading my 90+ grain loads and it is always on the money or no more than a .10 off.
