Has anyone been having problems with this unit? mine has a tendency occasionally to jump around as though there was a bug or something jumping around in the pan. and is constantly asking to be re-calibrated. usually after turning it off and rewarming up it goes away. it still reads right , I've checked it against my beam scale, but it still happens and bugs the shit out of me.

I originally had some issues with mine but was told flourecent fixtures can screw up the scale if they are in close proximity. My basement has low ceilings and when I did move the scale away it worked better. Also make sure the scale is on a level work surface.I bought the upgrade kit but havent use it yet.

Mine is a 1200 DPS3, and I have had similar issues. I called customer service, and they recommended keeping it at least 3' from fluorescent lighting and anything else "electronical". As far as your wandering readings, try wiping it down with a used dryer sheet and Windex. I did this to mine, and it seemed to fix the problem.

Does the machines electrical cord have ferrite-cores nearest to the machine or on both ends? The eddy-currents are well known to cause erratic behaviour.

Btw. Besides that issue, are you satisfied with your DPS 1200?

Ok, so last night I let it warm up no where near the flourescent lights of my bench, and then left the light off while I charged the cases, flawless, not a single problem, thanks for the help guys.

Other than this little problem I have been very happy with it, it is a little slower than I would like, but by changing my procedure a little it works out fine. I do a batch of fifty .308 win rounds at a time, start out by charging almost half of them, then as I seat bullets I continue charging the other half of the cases, by the time I get to the last one, they're all seated and done. With .223's it is perfectly timed, by the time I get a bullet seated the next case is ready to go. I'd like to see how the new speed kit works for it.

Something I have noticed when loading is my phone screws it up. I have an IPhone and it really messes with the scale for some reason. So I either have to turn it off or set it about 15 ft away.

Just another observation to throw out,

This is interesting, I didn't know these other devices could provide enough interference to affect the readings. I've been using mine next to a fluorescent light since day one. My first unit was giving me erratic readings no matter where I set it up, I initially thought the air current from the A/C was screwing with it, but after trying it in different rooms I ruled that possibility out and just had Lyman replace the unit. In retrospect I wonder if the lighting was the factor? At any rate my current model has been behaving, will have to consider relocating my lights anyway.

I have this same problem I have to set my phone somewhere else besides around the scale or it floats around.

The strange thing with mine is that I also have used flourescent lights right by it since day one, and for a year or two I never noticed any problems, it just sorta slowly developed. I will be replacing the lighting over my bench with something more friendly. Tried again today with a candescent light over the bench and again, no problems.
