Re: M&P 15x Questions
M&P barrels are very good quality barrels. I have shot several different models and own a T and Vtac. The Vtac is free floated and 1 in 7 twist. The T is ff and 1 in 9. I've had no trouble hitting 8" steel at 400 yards under match conditions with both. I shot a X pretty extensively but not with sling or fore girp. The only difference is that it is not free floated so, IMHO, you need to be a little more careful about gun handling when slung up (if not single point), using a fore grip or on a shooting bench, as pressure on the forearm could float bullets around some. As with all "rack grade" AR15 rifles I am happy with 1 1/2 MOA out of the box. A match grade trigger will usually bring it down to MOA or better and my T has shot consistently just under MOA with 55 FMJ from Federal and PMC.
