Are there companies that still make M1 Garand reproductions? I'm not talking about CMP Garands either. I'm talking about new manufacter rifles. One of the guys in my unit claims that Springfield turns them out every once in a while but I have never heard of them doing that.

Springfield put out a run of a few thousand a couple 2-3 years ago, was a commemorative edition with some engraved scene on the butt. Also CAI made their own receivers and built guns using GI parts kits for a long time but havent seen one of those in a few years.

Springfield Armory, Inc. that makes the M1-A rifles used to manufacture their own M-1 recevier and use U.S.G.I. parts for the remainder of the build.
They offered the standard service rifle, tanker Garands, M-1D rifles and IIRC also a national match conditioned version- all were available in .30-06 or .308 Win.
I think that the combination of U.S.G.I. parts drying up and the CMP making it so easy to get a real U.S.G.I. rifle caused the market for the commerically made M-1`s to go away.

They did not use all USGI or USGI spec parts, hence the reason the CMP disallowed them for CMP historic matches.
They were priced 2x+ the price of a Service Grade CMP rifle at the time SAI was making them.
Given the aforementioned two points, I see no reason to buy an SAI M1. The market and the mfgr agree.

SAI uses a Lithgow receiver made in Australia for the M1 Garand they released some years ago.

Yup, I got one when they first came out for $900 or so. I believe the stamp on the bottom of the reciever says ADI. Shoots good though

I worked the action on one of those commemorative models once. Granted, it was new so the park was fresh, but it felt gritty and not as well-machined as my Korean-war era original. (The earliest Garands have the most historic value, although it's often hard and never cheap to find an all-original parts rifle, but the last few years of production were some of the highest quality because the original Springfield Armory was vying for the M-14 contract and wanted to look good.

Yeah, commercial operations several times made aftermarket receivers for the M1 Garand market. That's SAI, Inc. All were cast, AFIK. Fed Ord's were sometimes shoddy. The two I saw were worth $129, as far as I'm concerned. Today's money. Not 1980s prices.
Springfield, the US Gov't armory, made their last receivers (forged) more than 50 years ago. Over. Done. IMO, H&R's 1950s receivers were equal to Springfield Armory's.

I purchased a new Springfield Armory M1-Garand in 30-06 which was part of a special run of 1 through 10,000 approx. 5 or 6 years ago. The receiver is cast but well made. There are a lot of USGI parts on the rifle. I'd have to check but I think the bolt, op rod and barrel are the only non-USGI parts. The stock looks like it comes from Boyds. The rifle has not been fired and sits in its box since I bought it. I’ve seen other (NEW) SA Garands at the range and they shoot just as good, if not better, than my other Garands. PAT.
