Most of mine seem to be in the 42.5-43.5gr range. I am at the office so I cant tell you what I was loading in my M118LR copy I loaded up, but it is in that range.
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">they detuned the 118lr round in 03 becuase it was bending too many op rods in m14's and m21's in the sandbox.</div></div>
Please, where are you getting this? I've asked two others who are quoting this.
I spoke with the product/test manager at Picatinny Arsenal, and according to him it was downloaded specifically by request of the Marines (the original customer) to match the BDC of the Unertl USMC 10X sniper telescope -- not due to damage to M14s.
If you have a DOD Ammunition Safety-of-Use warning for the M-14/M-21/M-25 please post it.
This is as of October 1997 (first year of production at Lake City under Winchester/Olin contract):
my brother in law who was in Iraq 03/04 told me. his buddy was in the armory and said it was screwing up the op rods so bad they started using regular ball. he also said it was almost tearing off the rims of the cases.
