Hey just looking for some help, I have NM rear sight and noticed that there is no indicator mark on the site base to show the current setting. Is this common?

Yes that helps a little. On the Elevation side you have the purple on white indicator. Was there a factory "notch" underneath that one? If not do you just put the line at 12 oclock or does it matter as long as you have a zero position on both the knob and base....actually that makes the most sense to me since its all relative, right?

Even if there are marks, always count from the bottom for every yardage and count down after each yardage.
