Hi guys

Im new around and have been a visitor for quite some time now.

I have an M1a and would like to mount a Harris Bipod to it. Can anyone point me in the direction as to a kit sold, or a swinvel stud to use? or modification info?

I tried to use the search feature as to not repost an already covered topic.

I thank you in advance...

Re: M1a M21 M14 bipod mount suggestions

If you contact Springfield, they can install the necessary stud for mounting one. I don't know whether or not this will work with Harris or Caldwell types though. Another option is to get another stock with a sling stud mounted. That may be more of an upgrade than you are wanting, but it is an option. Also, you could drill and tap a stud into the stock, using a backing nut ground shallow to clear any operating functions of the rifle. Make sure if you do that though that nothing interferes with the op rod. Do you have a standard M1A, or one of the SOCOM 16 variants? If you have any rail space on the 6 o'clock, A.R.M.S. makes a Harris adapter.

Thanks for the info... Its a standard M1a with walnut stock. I should have mentioned that part.
Again, thanks for the input. I may just install the tnut and stud like you suggested. I am confident that I can handle that work. Maybe I will call springfield and get a price on sending the stock to them.

Gard,

I got that SadLak rail mount. Installed it last night and love it!
