I recently picked up a second hand Smith enterprises mount for my M1A on the cheap, but the kicker is that the main screw is missing. Does anybody have any advice on how I can go about getting a main screw? I have already emailed SEI and do not have a reply yet. I haven't seen these main screws available anywhere including SEI's webpage. Are the main screws unavailable on their own? If so, then the sweet deal I got suddenly makes me feel foolish.

Re: M1A Scope Mount

Call Smith Enterprise on Monday and get one ordered that wont be any problem. It was my understanding that the scope mount main screw thread pattern was the same on all m1a's. So you could in theory get a bolt that matches that thread pattern which is a (#12-32). Just make sure it is long enough and of good quality. But I would just wait till Monday and order one up. I would go measure the threads on mine but sadly I had to sell mine to pay for medical bills.....

these guys both sell the scope mount screw:

I would not suggest getting a thumb screw type as you can not put enough torque on them and they will walk out on ya. Get a hex type. But don't over torque them either.
