M24 Floor Plate

Just picked up an m24 in pretty nice shape. I'm not extremely familiar with these yet, other than a little that i've read on here. It has a floor plate like a 700 BDL would have, but it doesn't release. Is that how these guns were, or is something messed up? The floor plate release button inside the trigger guard doesn't move at all.

Could be rusted up or too much spray paint camo. All M24 floorplates swing open when pushing the latch in. Shpritz it with CLP then try pushing down on the cartridge follower while pressing the release button. Unscrew the 2 stock bolts and pull out the bottom assembly for detailed cleaning if that doesnt work. Its possible the follower spring is broken.

Best to take the trigger guard off to see what's going on.
