M24

Hi guys..I`m new here on this board and want to share my real Remington M24 rifle only in 7.62 NATO. I purchased this gun new through a Remington dealer for some years ago. It`s not the M24 rebuild or a clone, but the real stock number 25732 M24 7.62 Nato rifle only. It has never been fired from me, but this M24 has gone some 150 testing rounds from Remington factory before shipping. They always do this on all M24`s, because accuracy problems occur after the 70 first rounds.

Do you guys know where I can buy original parts for it..surplus or new?

Since you have a real Remington M24 you can go straight to Remington for factory parts. Contact the Remington Custom Shop and tell them what you have, you will probably have to give them your serial number. They aren't quick to ship but they will help you.

Thanks..I`m going to contact Remingtons customshop for parts. This gun is a collectors item and a hard to get safequeen..that`s why I haven`t shot with it.

If you're not going to shoot it, why buy spare parts? It shouldn't brake sitting in your safe.

No, it won`t brake in a safe, but I want to add Redfield Pamla rifle sights and bases to it, and try to make the complete SWS system part by part so far as my wallet allows it. Go out and firing it on the range would be horrific... that will be like mailing a letter with a collectors precious stamp.

I really like the M24, in fact I have one issued to me. Its a great production rifle, however, Remington has been selling them to the public for quite some time now. There are currently 4 listed on Gunbroker. You can find a similar number of them there on any given day. You can order them direct from Remington. They are expensive, but I wouldn't call them rare. You should enjoy it or sell it and buy something that will actually give you a good return on your money. I have seen Redfield Palma sights on ebay quite often, though not new.

Though I have a very nice collection of firearms, I am not a collector. So I am really the wrong person to ask. To someone like me it would not have anymore value. I am sure there are people that would pay more for it, though they would be misguided. I question how much more though. I can't imagine it ever being more than two hundred dollars more than a rifle without the US marks on it. I already stated that I am not a collector though. You should find someone that is and ask them. You have a very nice rifle. If it belonged to me I would be very proud of it, but I would do my best to wear the barrel out. I doubt you could shoot it enough to do so. If you take care of it it will be very accurate with 10,000 rounds down it's tube. It's your rifle though do what makes you happy.

P.S.For what its worth....I know for a fact that "My" M24 is owned by Uncle Sam, however there are no "US" marks on it. Its marked just like the ones on gunbroker. "My" M4 is marked "Property of the US Government". I guess Uncle Sam is more possesive of his M4.

M24 is a very capable system, but hardly rare.
As a matter of fact, Remington is getting ready to sell refurb/rebuilt M24's, with optics and a return stock from actual military use.

I would imagine that those would garner more interest from collector, and remington is gonna sell 2000 of them for about 3500 a pop.

Do what you want, it is, after all, your rifle, but I don't foresee your rifle increasing in value.

Well I can steer you clear of Remington's custom shop if you're going for the Redfield stuff. Remington won't have any of that stuff anymore especially now that they are selling the M24-R the 25th Anniversary Rebuilt rifles. Whatever Redfield stuff they have or get back from the field will likely go on the M24-Rs. True, Redfield Big Bore Front Globes and Redfield Palma rear sights are available from time to time on eBay, here on Snipers Hide and even on AR15.com but the bases are really hard to come by.

Ring height on a standard M24 is Medium High, but check the thread you read up.

Dude... There's nothing "collectible" about your rifle. It's very nice. They're pretty expensive. I would love to own one. But you can bet your ass I would shoot the holy hell out of it!
I had a Colt Model 1905 45 Auto that was in 99% condition and made in 1907. Rarely, if ever fired. I never fired it and finally sold it because it drove me absolutely nuts owning a firearm and never firing it. Now, firing THAT would have been like mailing a letter with a collectors precious stamp... Go shoot the thing! It should impress the hell out of ya!
