I came across a guy with several of these all- brass WW2-vintage US Army tripods. Designed for spotting scopes, rangefinders, field binoculars and possibly cameras. Very rugged. Not quite sure about the head post setup, but looks adaptible to just about anything. They extend to about 6 feet!
The guy was listing them on eBay but noone was bidding and he was going to sell them for scrap. I bought one. He said he has 2 left $40 each, shipping included. If anyone else is interested, PM me and I'll send his contact info.
I am not affiliated with the seller and not trying to sell them myself or I'd list in the PX. And if I am in rules violation, mods please feel free to delete this post or move to PX and accept my apologies. Not trying to break the For Sale rules!
I'd just hate to see these pieces of history get scrapped for a few pounds of brass and figured someone here with a Garand, '03 or similar rifle might want to snap one up as a neat accessory!
Cheers,
Sirhr
