Suppressors M9 or G34 or G19?

I don't have a lot of experience with 9mm, so when I shot a friends 92FS I was extremely impressed with the way the gun stayed on target. I usually shoot a G27 & Sig P220, and decided to get into 9mm. I eventually want to go all Glock, so the G19 is my first choice. will the G19 stay on target as well as the 92FS, or will I have to go to a G34 to get that type of performance? I know, I know,... just get all three...

The 34 is a sweet shooting 9mm. I added a tungsten guide rod to mine. Helped reduce muzzle flip and balanced out the weapon a bit better. You wont be disappointed.

cant speak for the G-34 but i know the G-19 or 17 will not stay on target as well as the 92 in their stock formation.

adding a tungston guid rod and upping the recoil spring 1-2 lbs will make a HUGE differance.

I have no trouble keeping a Glock 19 on target. Something to keep in mind, though, is that if you replace the stock guide rod with one heavier than the plastic factory spring/guide rod, you cannot shoot IDPA with it.

The trouble with shooting the heavier 92 is that it's a Beretta.

If you want to be able to conceal, G19, I agree with above on the G35 with a 9 conversion barrel, one pistol 3 calibers, 9 357 40!

All handguns "leave" the target.

The issue is how well and how fast they return after recoil and that is primarily a function of the shooter.

A Glock gives the shooter the opportunity to use the quick reset of the trigger to his advantage. 9mm recoil should not be a problem in any Glock with a full grip.

I will go to The Baron's Den tomorrow and shoot the G34 and 92fs side by side. I will ignore my Glock fetish for the 92 if it stays on target better. I am selling my Sig p220 w/ nite sights and will replace it with a G30. That will take care of my compact pistol itch.

Screw the 92fs... I was jealous of the Iraqi National Guard (ING) for getting glocks. The 92fs require to much up keep, are heavy, have a long trigger pull and don't have near the availabilty of parts. I had a G19 (great unit) and traded for a G34 (thanks Jasonk) I'd go with the G17/G34 or a 1911 in 9mm... just my 2 cents

I own 19, 17, and 34. The 34 goes to work with me every night and the extra barrel and longer sight radius really makes for a fast shooting and accurate pistol. The 19 is my off duty gun and it shoots great and is probaly the best all around pistol for work play and concealability. Glocks are hard to beat but with that being said you need to shoot what is comfortable for you and you need have faith in whatever you carry that it will go bang everytime you want it to. The Berreta's suck I am not much for bashing guns as everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. We broke at least a couple 92's everytime they went to the range in the Marine Corps and the amount of flesh lost on all their sharp edges could be measured in pounds, poor ergonomics, open barrel that always seemed to get shit under the slide, horrible trigger, but other than that they are handy as an impact weapon of opportunity. Wow, that's really surprising, mine runs like it was made for it. As far as the mag flopping around, you must have either a bad mag (which could be causing your issues) or something is up with your Glock. The 26 and 27 mags are the exact same dimensions, even without the slide on the frame that mag shouldn't be flopping around, I'd look into that some just to make sure all is right with the gun.

I been wanting a M9 can some of you guys post the porblems with them. I friend of mine as a 1990 or so model that we have shoot the hell out of without any issues. That note this is range shooting and not out in the field with dirt and girt getting to it. It also is a fairly accurate pistol.

I am 100% sold on Glocks. I have a 26, two 17's, and an issued 34. Even the short 26 is pretty accurate. I carried an M9 in Iraq, and even though I liked to shoot it, I don't think I will be buying one unless it is dirt cheap. I can't really point out any major things that are wrong with an M9, and if someone just wants one to shoot at the range, great. But if you want a handgun you could bet your life on, get a Glock. I have fired thousands of rounds through one of my 17's and my 34. I have put probably 5000 rounds, within a week and without cleaning, through each at handgun schools over the years, and have yet to have a malfunction. The ONLY malfunctions I have ever had with mine are one failure to feed with a non-factory 33rd magazine, and the slide not locking back after the last round sometimes. But I think that is cause I have a habit of keeping my thumb to close to the slide release lever. Now, I have seen other guys have problems with failure to feed malfunctions when shooting with one hand, but we decided they were "limp wristing" it.

What are you going to use it for? A G19 would suck for gun games, but a G34 sure would suck for CCW.

Choose your gun based on use, not some subjective notion of "performance."

All this feedback is awesome. Thanks guys. I hate the way the Glocks feel in my hand, but the sights seem to align themselves for me when I shoot them, plus, when I squeeze the trigger, there is almost no movement of the sights. This goes against everyone who ever told me "just get the one that feels good in your hand". I have CCW pistols, and want a pistol that will allow me to deliver the most shots as accurately & as quickly as possible. Sounds like the G34 is getting the nod. If one should need to engage an armed adversary, concealment of the pistol is of little concern.

Turns out one of my newer G27 mags has the same problem. My older G27 mags have a tapered shoulder about .65" down from the feed lips, and they fit real snug. This must be "progress".

I've owned all your choices and all you've mentioned. The 34 is my hand's down fav gun I own or have owned. For me it balances very well and is quite easy and accurate to shoot. It points very well and almost seems to shoot itself. Even in its factory settings *no swap of guide rod etc*. The only thing i changed on mine was adding "Heinie Straight 8's."
Thats the only thing i dont like on the Glocks are how wide the factory sights are. I shot'm ok in ipsc for quick shots. But for more precision I like the Heinie's. They remind me of a 1911 sight which is my second fav. handgun.
Good luck...now go get yourself a 34 and lots of mags.

XDM 9mm i went into buy a g34 for three gun and walked out with the M and havent looked back since. anyway out of the choices i would get a g34 except if its for any sort of defense your not gonna like the muzzle flash at night from the porting, i would get a g17.

There's no porting on a G34 barrel... The slide has been "cut" to speed up cycling.... I shaved almost a full second off my 5 and dimes drills and consistantly keep all my rounds in the A and B zones... The longer site radius is nice.

At the end of the recent trainup for the Sniper's Hide Fall Shooter's Bash, a little informal pistol competition was held.

The competition consisted of shooters starting at ten yards, and firing one shot at a 11.25" X 21" plate. Those who missed were out. Those who had hit backed up 10 yards, and repeated one shot. This was repeated until only one shooter was left.

The winner, at 80 yards, was shooting a stock Glock 19 (except for a set of night sights) with a factory trigger.

Perhaps it's not about the gun.

In response to yet another "My favorite Pistol" thread, the ability of a pistol to stay on target is largely dependent upon the operator.

While I am a huge Glock believer and applaud your initial selection of a model 19, my advise is, whatever pistol you select, make its front sight your friend, do not let it wander off and never ever squeeze the trigger without even a brief revisit of its whereabouts.

Shoot as many pistols as you can, if you buy your model 19 from a hide member, you can always get most of your $ back if you really dont like it.

Please understand that it is impossible for other people to tell you how their shoes will fit your feet.

Thanks to Fast Eddy & Lindy for an awareness check on the Zen of pistol shooting. It's easy to get wrapped up in the consumerism of selecting a tool, & to forget that YOU make the pistol, not the other way around. Lets see, who do I know that shoots a 19 a whole bunch?

I am not sure in all the above the original poster stated the purpose of the weapon. If I could have but one pistol (thank God that not the case) it would be a G19.

If you need to conceal this thing, that is definitely the way to go.

If that is not a concern, the 17 will have less muzzle flip than the 19 and the 34 will have less than the 17.....simple physics.

My advise.....get all three.

If I could have just one pistol, it'd be a 1911. If it had to be a plastic one, it'd be the M&P.

I'd say take a good hard look at the 5" M&Ps (either the 9L or the Pro--I have the Pro). The reason I say that is that I never cared for the Glock, but a lightweight, double stack pistol has features that are just too good to be without. I still have a G19 because it is the perfect carry size, but for a full size pistol, if I don't have a 1911 in my hand, it's the M&P for me.

I don't mess with double action anymore at all. I won't compromise on trigger, so it's single action or striker-fired only for me. Of the options, the Glock is the oldest design and has the fewest features. It also has the best track record and an excellent reputation for reliability.

Take a look at the M&P and the XDM and XD Tactical before you buy the G34. You just might find that there are plenty of good pistols out there.

In my opinion, the 34 and 17 are excellent IDPA match pistols, in that order. The 19 will work, too, although it has a bit more muzzle whip by comparison. Provided you can get a firm grip on the ploymer frame the rest of the control equasion is all-about proper lock-up and not coming off the gun.

I haven't shot a match with a gun as small as the G19 in a long time, and I probably wouldn't. It's just not enough sight radius.

The really good match shooters have such a strong grip and can control recoil and shoot so fast that it doesn't really matter that they need some more time to get their sight picture (remember, splits are measured in hundredths of a second). For the rest of us, more sight radius will probably force us to pay more attention to our sights, and a heavier gun helps soak up some of the recoil.

IDPA is a lot of short range stuff and so mechanical accuracy isn't really an issue. You just have to learn to get comfortable behind the gun and drive it to the best of your ability under pressure.

The G19 is, IMHO, the best all around sidearm by a number of metrics: cheap, compact, accurate (enough) and reliable as hell right out of the box.

The only thing I change on mine is the sites.

I shoot a Glock 19 because the ammo is cheap. I carry a Glock 23 on the street, because the ammo is more effective. Both have the same frame size, so the same holsters and mag carriers work for both.

If I were just going to be a match shooter, I'd probably shoot the Glock 34, but I figure that shooting matches with essentially the same system I carry on the street makes me a better defensive shooter.

Not everyone shares my set of priorities, which is fine. The world would be a less interesting place if that were true.

I tend to think that if you shoot matches with a G34 and carry say, a G19, most of it is so similar that it translates right over anyway.

It took me a lot of years with pistols before I developed my manual of arms for each one. Now I can pretty much pick up any pistol and shoot it well, but it wasn't always that way for me.

The M&P and 1911 are so close that it makes for a really easy transition.

I would take G19 over 92FS. I have both and I am selling the Beretta.

For target shooting a USP Expert in 9mm is a good gun. For fast action type shooting a G17 is a little better than G19 because of the longer sight radius. G34/G35 is a ridiclous rule beater gun IMHO. Nobody less than 7 feet tall carries it concealed. And even they would be better of with a MP5K

For general sport shooting, back-up for your long gun, CCW etcä G19 is very hard to beat. But only if it fits your hand.
