I was born there & visit periodically. The landscape is all buttoned up, and just walking to the river edge can be a monumental feat. I was completely blown away that not one person I met there had any interest in shooting, recreational or otherwise.... How sad....
I kept getting the same question too..... "Why do you want to shoot?"
There is a range that goes to 600 yards in Reading MA, it is mostly a high power club, another place not to far from there is Nassua NH, 600 yards there as well, also high power mostly.
It's been under construction for years, last I heard they had let the developer clear the land and remove dirt to level it out. For free excavation he got to keep / sell the removed soil. The problem is that town and state want taxes from that sale which the club is debating who pays. I'm not aware of any further progress to that range since it started construction a couple years ago. For the record I'm not a member there, I looked into it because of the upcoming 600 yard range.
300 yard ranges are what you'll mainly find around here unless you want to shoot highpower.
I have been hearing the same rumors about Hamilton Rod & Gun club(near Sturbridge) for the last ten years about getting pushed to 600 yards. I do not know if that project has gotten much further. Too bad, as some of us enjoy long range shooting and the closest is PA.
Isn't there a club in NH near the old man on the mountain that goes out to 1000 yards?
The Sig academy in Epping extended their range to 1000 but you need to take a class to shoot it.
300 Yard in Taunton, MA
300 Yard in Fall River, MA
500 Yard in Dartmouth, MA (range is out to 1,000 but no longer usable past 500, logistical bullshit)
300 Yard in Harvard, MA
