How do you guys deal with battery management on a MagnetoSpeed. Meaning when do you change to a fresh battery? I've been changing mine out when they get below 8 volts but i'm not sure what is common practice or recommended.

Are you using a 9 volt or are you using the small round lithiums? I only use the lithiums in my MagnetoSpeed and I've only had to replace them recently after using the first set for a few years. Personally, I keep a small set of lithium batteries in my range bag for whatever electronics I'll be using (range finder, Kestrel, ear pro, MagnetoSpeed, etc) so if I'm at the range and I see I'm running out of juice, I can just throw in a fresh set of batteries.

Wasnt aware you could use anything other than a 9 volt... what batteries exactly do you use?

I use the lithium CR123 batteries. Pay a little extra and go with the lithium for the critical electronics. Regular alkaline batteries can leak and damage the device.

Ive been running a sporter since summer and it seems to continually show 7.4 or so volts.

Ive wondered same and my seems to be going strong with a few hours of cumulative run time.

Ok all I got the offical info from MagnetoSpeed customer service. This is for the Sporter model only!

Hello. Thank you for your past business and support. We recommend that you change your battery if the voltage drops below 6.8-7volts. It's not so much about getting inaccurate readings from the sensors, but more about keeping the display powered to interpret the signals. Also, due to it being winter, try to keep your display warm. This will extend the 9v battery life. If you have any questions, please let me know.
