Hunting & Fishing Magpie sniping

It's been 4weeks since I walked the fields armed with my Remington, and i wasn't waiting any longer, myself and a hunting partner racked up and set out.

We immediately noticed a huge amount of magpies on the land and I knew I had to bag one.

We moved round the land trying not to disturb them when I spotted a bunch of 12-14 on a sitting tree which has a lovely backstop behind it.

Only problem 220yds stood between me and the magpie.

I chambered the round and adjusted the dial 3clicks of elevation zero clicks for wind age.

Set myself a steady breathing rhythm and let rip.
My target made a loud resounding pop and dropped clean from the tree







The shot hit a little low so next time I know its 4 clicks but was spot on for wind age.

The shot was taken from just to the right of the woodblock in the distance on the high ground (marked yellow) with the target area (marked red)





We spotted Charlie shortly after but I obviously left my short range eyes at home cos he couldn't of been more than 80yds and I didn't spot him until it was too late and he disappeared into the brush

We packed up shortly after nightfall and I called into my old stomping grounds picking out a rabbit at 170yds. Well it would be rude not to wouldn't it lol.

Was really nice to get out after a long break mainly due to a operation on a wisdom tooth that left me unable to eat anything other than porridge for 2 weeks but this made our land feel new again

Magpies are great! Like crows, not too often one gets a good chance to plunder them, so when one is given, you must engage. One of my best shots to date was a magpie, If you look just above my ear in the pic, you can see a concrete culvert, at the top of the culvert there was a rock, and a magpie made his last stand there. just over 900 yds:



Yes BTW, that is a bone stock 10FCP shooting 150gr hornady BTSP's.

Good shooting , 2.5 inch kill zone at 900 yards , it doesn't get much better than that .
