The Law Enforcement Sniper Surgical Shooting Course is a curriculum focused on the precision marksmanship and surgical shooting skills required by the law enforcement sniper. This is an abbreviated Law Enforcement Basic Sniper Course, which is normally 5-6 days in duration.
The Surgical Shooting Course is designed to focus solely on precision marksmanship. Topics to be discussed are:
•Fundamentals of Marksmanship
•Rifle Set-Up and Zero
•Basic Internal, External, and Terminal Ballistics
•Collection and recording of shot data
•Range estimation
•Trajectory validation
•Scope turret manipulation
•Rapid threat acquisition and multiple target engagement
•Unconventional shooting positions
•Tripod supported shooting positions
•Obstacle/Barrier Clearance techniques
•Intermediate Barrier penetration and practical application
•Stress inoculation shooting
•Known and unknown distance target engagement from 70 to 600 yards
The student can expect a fast-paced, information intensive training environment focused on the combative and problem solving mindset required of the law enforcement sniper. The student should expect to engage targets from a distance of 70 yards to 600 yards from various unconventional shooting positions while under physical and mental stress in closely simulated operational conditions.
Also included will be an introduction to night operations. Sponsored by Knights Armament Company and BE Meyers, this inclusion is meant to familiarize the student with current night vision technology and associated support equipment such as IR designation and illumination as well as white light contingencies.
Ammunition Requirement: 400 rounds match ammunition
Cost: $700 per student
