Experts-
I need to mount a light was looking into getting a midlength Magpul MOE Handguard for my RRA Elite Comp A4 (heavy barrel) and had a couple of questions.

Will it fit? I did a little google'ing and found a few folks saying their front site cap was the wrong shape and wouldn't fit, but I couldn't find precisely what manufacture(s) that was true for.

As far as heat goes, will it protect my hand from heat any better or worse than the standard A4 grip? When I'm really working her she gets to a point where I need gloves it gets so hot.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Magpul MOE Handguard

The MOE fits round caps. I don't believe it will fit a triangle cap, but then again I don't know anyone putting a triangle cap on a middy.

The MOE guards will more than likely protect about as well as the stock handguards. I run an AFG under mine, so I never really noticed the heat. I also always wear gloves when I am doing rifle training, but they are just thin mechanix gloves or Oakley Assault gloves.

Re: Magpul MOE Handguard

I just checked and my RRA Mid-length has a triangle cap. I guess I better call around before I order it.
/sigh...

LoneWolf, pardon my ignorance, but what is an AFG?

Thanks

Re: Magpul MOE Handguard

Ahh! Thanks for the info. BTW, I found on their site that it does indeed fit the triangle cap, so you should be GTG.

Ordering mine now....

Re: Magpul MOE Handguard

Apparently after some more looking several manufacturers are offering middies with triangle caps.

Kind of weird if you ask me.

However if the MOE is only setup for round caps, replacing the cap or attacking the MOE with a Dremel would work. I think I would go with replacing the cap.
