I am curious what i may have to invest in to make new brass?? not from other cartridges but for the sake there is now factory brass avail for .350 RemMag.I lucked up and found 100 rds new. I watched midway push it back on back order for 8 months now, I called remington, they discontinued factory ammo which i dont care ab because my rifle hates that crap... And they said they dont have enough demand for brass to even produce it anymore and couldnt say whether its going back into production.. there is a few trim dies and form dies to go from 300 wm to the 350 Rem Mag. but then you have to buy 300 wm brass to form brass.. Just curious if there is equipment out to make your own??

Re: making brass? need input

Lot's of high pressure punch and die work involved in brass forming. Check with Starline maybe. I don't know what they need for an order to make a batch.

It would be much easier to reform an existing case than to make your own. Cases start from a piece of brass the size of a coin or a little wider punched piece.

Re: making brass? need input

There is something like 20+ different processes a single piece of brass goes though to get formed. Figure set-ups and dies plus all the annealing and testing equip and I bet you're at at least $50K just for one type of brass. So unless you have a lot of investors and a large market (nope) to help recoup your overhead it'll never be worth it.

Way cheaper to just swap to a caliber that is more avail.

350RM,

mate seriously probably just easier to deal with the fact you shoot a rarity, buy the factory stuff, pull the projectiles and handload them yourself.

And take care of that brass... anneal it, minimal sizing etc

Just my 0.02

Trim die is what >$50? .300 WM brass is probably cheaper the .350 Rem mag! Only a few steps to form new brass. I recommend a back-up plan or just be patient, some will show up.

I did just put together a 6.5 Rem Magnum, but secured 1000 cases before I started the project.

As said above, you could rebarrel to one of the newer short magnums, especially if it will allow you to sleep at night.

Good luck
