I have a mark 8 3.5-25 with an h58 that i really like, and i have tested tracking and return to zero which it passed. I need another scope, i am considering another mark 8 with the h59, but also considering an atacr 5-25 f1, vortex razor hd 4.5-27, and possibly a s&b. I only have experience with the leupold, would those other choices offer somthing i am not getting with the leupold? It will be going on a 6.5 cm.

Same here, got a Mark 8 3.5-25x56 H58 and like it as well, great scope! Also considering the same scope with the H59 but curious about the NF ATACR F1 5-25x56 with the Mil-C reticle. I had a S&B 5-25x56 PM2 with P4fl reticle, great scope as well but did not like the changes S&B made in their warranty (only good for 2 years after the date of purchase, no thanks), so long S&B. Also have a Vortex Razor Gen 2, 4.5-27x56, EBR-2C, great scope, love the reticle but IMHO, even though the Vortex glass is great, the Mark 8 glass is slightly better.
As of now, would like to be able to compare the NF ATACR F1 MIL-C to the Mark 8 H59.
Realistically...they are all excellent scopes; personal preferences will make the difference but they will all ring steel at a mile ;)

You are mistaken on the S&B warranty. While technically that did happen a while back, it actually was different than it sounded, and as far as I'm aware there were never any cases where SB stopped repairing scopes under warranty after only two years. NEVERTHELESS: To clarify, the current SB warranty is now TWENTY years, not two. But from what I've heard I suspect the SB USA group is essentially still treating most of them like lifetime warranty scopes. I don't know about overseas.

I would like to compare the two as well. Why is the nf beast so much more than the atacr f1?

I had the h58 mk8 a while back. Glass on it is probably better then me Razor ii but I didn't own both at the same time. I prefer the Razor cuz of the reticle and turrets.

Not saying you are wrong but back then, I called S&B customer service and this is what I was told. Maybe I talked to a jackass ready to quit his job spraying wrong info but the guy was pretty clear on the fact that my 20 year warranty was now done and over and that it was replace by that new 2 years warranty. As I bought the scope in 2011, it meant that I had no warranty left on the scope, which pissed me off; I even made the guy say it twice, as I could not believe it. Then the CS guy added "but don't worry, we are keeping spare parts for the next 20 years so we will be able to fix your scope, you just will have to pay for it". Shortly after, I traded the S&B and did not want to hear from them again. To settle this, I will call them again, just to get it straight.
Actually, I went now to S&B website an looked on their warranty; see for yourself and check link below, no comments.

I may have incorrectly assumed you are in the US, since you are shooting a Leupold. I just got off the phone with Jerry at SB's repair center here in the US (Winchester, Virginia). He stated that the warranty for civilian users in the US is 10 years (100% unlimited), and 30 years for manufacturer defect. He is aware that the website doesn't reflect that, but rather it shows the policy for Germany (and the rest of Europe?). If you have doubts, contact them directly.

I was certain that here on the Hide it was announced that the warranty had been changed to 20 years, but I can't find that now.

I copy/paste my answer from the other conversation as well ;)

Hello vh20

You are correct; I am in the US, Las Vegas to be exact.
Not questioning anyone's word; just read what was written on S&B's website and back a few years ago, called twice S&B's CS and I remember well what I was told in no uncertain terms. It is now few years later, things and people change; I am sure Jerry is a straight forward guy and that he means what he says. Nevertheless, considering the warranty offered by Vortex, Nightforce, Leupold and other big optics companies; you would think S&B would feel the need to put it in writing on their website. A lifetime warranty is always a great thing to have and anything mechanical is subject to failure, even great scopes such S&B.
