After holding an AR15 rifle and not buying a new rifle that i really cant use for all practical purposes, i bought a "tactical" stock for my marlin. If boyds still made one i would have gotten a thumbhole. Anyways; the ATF stock is cookie cutter and it took a little trimming to get it to fit.
I put in a DIP target trigger and guard also.
I found my groups opened up considerably with the new stock. I put it back in the old stock and the groups got much better.
Im looking bed and float this bad boy.
The tube/barrel supports will get dremeled some so it doesnt touch, so it will be free floated.
Here is what im not sure about:
Look at the rear of the hole for the "receiver". This is what im going to call the assembly because thats all i know to call it. It has one ledge that it sits on. Between the trigger assm. and receiver is where the most rear bolt goes to hold the trigger and receiver to the stock. Between these two is a decent gap, i would say around 3/4in. Is there a way to fill that void?
Should i tape everything off that i can, and fill any space between the receiver and stock?
Theres no real room in the rear for epoxy, except around the sides and below the receiver and above the trigger guard. I could fashion something so that there is a hollow hole in the epoxy for the bolt to go through.
The front end of the receiver could use some epoxy i guess.
Any tips/pointers?
