Re: Marlin sucks since bought by Remington
took about four hours of my time, a dremel tool, and some fine grit sandpaper to clean up the action on my 1895SBL last year, and I dumped that horrible looking rail in favor of some Skinner Sights.
The inside of the action was never finished, just roughly cut out. foregrip is too short, so it wiggles (fixed that real quick), and the magazine tube foreend has this really nasty habit of slipping around. always have to check it to make sure my magazine tube hasn't slipped completely out of its slot in the barrel. Once I get enough experience with redneck rigging my gun, it's gonna be an awesome bear stomper. Until then, I'm using my pre-remington 1894 in 44Rem Mag as my truck/hike/brush gun. Accurate as can be with just the original buckhorns, plus it throws a nice shot pattern with #7.5 birdshot for the Spruce Chickens. Who could ask for more?
