MASON DIXON SNIPER SERIES
“Seven Sundays of Sniping”
We all enjoyed the Mayberry Precision Series of 2012. The matches were excellent, well run and challenging with fair and transparent scoring and a great bunch of people to share a firing line with.
“So what’s next?”
We have come up with a way to expand on the good work the guys down at MGPA did in 2012 and offer MORE matches, MORE shooting, MORE fun by joining forces.
The 2013 MASON DIXON SNIPER SERIES will consist of seven matches. Three qualifiers will be at MGPA in Taneytown, MD, Three will be at NHRPC in Gap, PA, and the finals match will be the top 20 shooters across the series and shall be held at one of the two clubs to be picked at random following the final qualifier.
We are not changing the way the series is tracked or scored. Just adding more matches to it. Here’s how it works:
When you shoot in the series, you accrue series points based on how well you attack each CoF. If the max points of a match is 1000 and you shoot a 650, you have earned 65.000 percentage points for that series. Not all Courses of Fire are of equal difficulty, so attend as many as possible to increase your chances.
Six qualifier matches - you keep your best three scores. You can shoot only three, or all seven to increase your chances.
If you place first in any qualifier match, you are automatically qualified into the finals.
The three keeper scores must include one match at the other club.
Courses of fire are not revealed or known to any competitor before match day. You will get two very different but excellent flavors of matches from Steve and Freddy, who are the match directors. You will also experience very different target presentations. The MGPA matches feature lots of steel, some physical challenges, movers, a huge target variety and clever use of props. The NHRPC matches feature lots of walking and running speed moving targets at all distances, steel out to 637Y, and a vehicle to work stages off of.
Range Staff may compete in the series by shooting the matches at the other club, and shall keep those 3 scores.
Registration / Payment / Cancellation policy: Registration for each match will be $40.00 for all competitors. Online registration will be offered for each match. Pre-payment will not be required. If you sign up, you are agreeing to be there, and to furnish the match fee. If you are a no-show, or cancel within five days of the match you will still owe that match fee at the next series match you want to shoot.
Tracking and Scoring: We will establish a website for the series where all of the scores will be posted.
Series Dates:
Mayberry's dates for the series will be May 19, July 21, Sept. 22 and the final (if held there) on Oct. 27.
NHRPC’s dates for the series will be Apr. 28, June 23, Aug. 25, and the final (if held there) on Oct 27.
See you at the range.
