Chances of some decent folks being around and shooting back are much lower than in other places.

Yeah, I totally agree. But as I read the situation, this is one where it would be very difficult to understand the backdrop. It's not like being in a well lit Walmart with a visible asshole where you can reasonably take a responsible shot.

Before that, 6th St. was notoriously rough and seedy, a place you didn't go unless you knew how to fight and use a knife and gun.

No proper girl or woman would ever be associated with 6th. St. and to say so was implying she was a whore.

The toughest went to 6th. St. to drink, gamble, chase whores and cut and beat the fuck out of each other to prove they were the toughest. I knew some battle scarred old patrons of 6th. St. growing up and have listened to their stories and have seen their scars.
