Gunsmithing Mausingfield vs Defiance Deviant for 300 Norma build

Hi,
I was just after some advice for a up coming build. I was thinking of building a 300 Norma and was wondering about the strength of these actions opposed to say a Stiller Tac338 .
I am wanting to build a lighter weight rifle around 14 pounds with a stainless barrel so I can rule out the Surgeon and the other big actions.
I have a few long action stocks and was thinking this may be a easier option. I have read about lug set back in 338 Lapua chambered actions and was wondering if I should be concerned in using the Mausingfield or Defiance.
I have heard of guys building on Remington's and guys opening up the boltface on a Stiller Tac300 but I am all for a superior safety margin. I just want the rifle to be safe and accurate.
I am not one to run stupid loads I am happy with a lower node that's super accurate.

I'm a control round feed fanboy so I lean hard on the Mausingfield. That said, many a nice guns have been built with every action manufacturer you've mentioned. It really boils down to:

I’ve been contemplating a 300 Norma build and almost decided against Mausingfield based on a previous Facebook post from your page.

Not doubting you one bit....but what changed? I’m glad to see this. Wish you still had some HTR long actions laying around.

What do you want to use the rifle for? 14lb is a little hefty for a hunting gun. A little light for a dedicated ELR rig.

I'd suggest 300wm, 300 PRC, 300 RUM before the NM in the 1.350" actions. Personal preference. Obviously guys are running .338 Lapua M700's and Mausingfields and not running into serious issues so take my opinion for what it cost you.

I run a lot of Lone Peak and Defiance actions with the Lapua Bolt faces. They’ve both shot fantastic and have been extremely consistent. Do yourself a favor and run Lapua or Peterson brass with the Norma. It makes a LOT of difference
