McCann Industries rail on SSG3000

I just picked up a Sig SSG3000 in the McMillan stock. It has a MIRS on it made by McCann Industries.
Does this MIRS fit any other rifles?
What’s the advantage of this rail system?

I had no idea they made those rails for anything else but the Remington 700 actions.
That is very cool!

It is there to allow you to mount nightvision in front of your regular scope. The side rails can be used for various things, lite rangefinders, lasers, or what have you.

Welcome aboard. That MIRS rail is for mounting forward night vision and side mounted illumination. I don’t know if yours will fit any other rifles.

If I remove it, will I find any markings underneath that might give a model? Perhaps it is for a Rem 700, but it also fits the 3000. How do I know if it is a SA or LA? Does anyone have dimensions?

The screw spcing for long vs short is readily available online. Yes there are numbers on the underside

Did you ever find out if it was made for the Ssg or of the Remington model fits your rifle? I know I’m years behind on this just picked my Ssg up and love it!
