I have a McMillan Game Scout for my Tikka CTR and I want to increase the LOP by around 1 inch. The problem is that the Pachmayr Decelerator pad is glued. I've talked with McM and they told me they can do the job for $73.00 plus shipping and "some fees" if they need to retouch the paint or they could add the spacer system for $128.00 plus shipping and the same fees for possible repainting. With both options of course I need to send the stock to them and I should have to wait weeks in order to them finish the job. I could try to do the job but what worries me the most is how can I remove the decelerator pad w/o damaging the stock? Adding spacers and gluing a new pad should be the easy part. Any suggestions? Thanks.

its going to be a lot cheaper to spend the $128 to have Mcmillan do it properly.......than it would be to attempt it yourself, screw it up, then end up sending it to Mcmillan anyways.

that being said, if its a "working gun".....i would just cut up some flipflops and duct tape it to the end of the stock and be done with it....

To me, the peace of mind in having the manufacturer outweighs any other considerations.
The fact of the matter is, if you damage the stock, you'll still have to pay for the repair.
The other option is a slip on pad, or pay a gunsmith that has experience doing such things.

You mean like this?

Flip Flop Mod used to gain 1" LOP. Coincidentally, this also serves as extra recoil protection.

I like the idea. The Game Scout's recoil pad is well curved so it will be a little tricky to do but at the end is doable. Thanks.
