I have an action and a barrel on order for a new hunting rifle for next year. I am very interested in the McMillian Remington Hunter stock. It is designed after the Sako 85 rifle stock. Does anyone have any hands on experience with this stock? Pros, cons, and/or opinions. I would really like to handle one before I put one on order. Has anyone ever asked McMillian to ship them a basic style of stock to check feel of? I would expect them secure their stock with a CC and I would expect to cover shipping both ways. Thanks for your opinions. krw

Never handled a Rem Hunter that I recall, but yes McMillan will send you a stock to handle if you pay S&H and give them a CC number. They are beyond awesome to deal with.

The Rem. Hunter and the McMillan Hunter are the two most comfortable stocks they make in my opinion. They are the same stocks except the McMillan hunter has a slimmer for arm and will only take up to about a #4 contour. Both have a small palm swell that feels great, not huge like the H-S PSS stocks.

I've got three rifles built with the the Remington Hunter...

They work great with big boomers.
