Hey, just wanted to know the difference in these two besides the price. I know I just had a thread comparing a Mcree to a CCS, I have decided on the Mcree. Then I rememberd the Tacmod stock and just wanted to know the differences (besides price).

Thanks,

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

"chainring" on here has a TACMOD and he loves his. Most of the guys that have had the Mcrees don't like it.

The only thing most say about the TACMOD is they say it feels heavier then the AICS even though they advertise it as being under 5#'s if I remember correctly.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I would really love to hear what kind of complaints are to have had against the Mcree. I've only heard one guy say that it just didn't fit him, and he didn't like it.

Really looking into a Mcree for a 16.5" Rem. 700, and would just like to hear the pros and cons of each.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

The only complaint I had with the Mcree is the forearm. I didn't like the sharp edges, if they would make a tube type forearm I would buy another one in a heart beat. I ended up selling it.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

Well, that is of the main things people are saying negitave about the Mcree, I think they have made a peice that you can put on the forend fora mire rounded feeling.

If they could make some kind of adaptor that tou could use AR-10 handguards (such as the B.O. Stabilizer or a DD 13.2" rail), I really think that these would sell like water in Alabama on a hot summer day!!

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

The like the square forearm of the McRee...it seems easier to grip than a round one, for me. Other than that, I have no complaints. I enjoy the adjustability with the knowledge that once it's locked down, it's there for good.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I like the mcree stock that I have on my 338 Norma mag. I can see where people are coming from with the square forend but I use mine with an atlas and because of the weight of the rifle I would not shoot in any other position besides prone or bench. Dollar for dollar the mcree is the best available.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I thought that the Mcree wasn't heavy (~4#)? An A-5 or AICS is the same or greater weight.

I like it to be heavy, if it's too heavy, then I'll just keep on working out, another passion of mine.

I don't mind a heavy gun if it shoots great and is stable.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I don't like the big gap between the pistol grip and the trigger guard on the McRee, my fingers ride right up in there.
Plus I think its lame that they use AR pistol grips, but you can't use the screw from AR grips, the McRee has different threads.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

What other kind of grips are you going to use?

I belive that their coming out with a fully adjustably CNC machined grip, and a rounded forearm.

They said once that the space there was because AR-15 grips differ in size and shape, and they left the space there for those larger grip, aulthough a peice of steel to fill that gap would be nice.

My point is that its lame that you have to use a proprietary screw.
As far as the space, no AR grips fill the space. Aluminum should have been left there.

You know, Scott came on here at somepoint and described why that was, but I can't for the life of me remember now.

How long ago did you buy your MODSS? I got mine this year and didn't have any sharp edges.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I am really looking forward on seeing the new McRees stock with the round forend. The one thing that looks odd about the Tacmod is that the barrel doesn't sit in the center of the tube. I know it's just astetics, but for 1400 bucks they could have gotten that part right. But the one chassis system I am wanting to hear more about is the Remington MSR... if it comes out as a chassis system at all.

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

That is the long action tactical folder model. The non tactical one is a little cheaper, 699.00 or so from The Billit Arms Company.

Aesthetics of having the barrel in the center on the TacMods were probably trumped by the practical need to mount the NV in front of the day optic...

Re: Mcree vs Tacmod

I think that the Tacmod tube is different, but in a good way, I guess it's just asthetics whether you like it or not, considering both of these stocks are purpose built, IMHO, asthetics should take a backseat.

NV does some some play up or down and you should still be able to see right through.
