Is it just me or the MDT LSS night vision hood just a POS ? Rail is above bottom of scope bell when mounted... in process of designing my own on a CAD program. Thoughts anyone?
I want to say that with all of the MDT NV hoods/rails that you need to use the specific "high" scope rail they sell. At least you need it for the ESS and ACC.
Yeah, like I was saying you need to run the high scope base with the ESS and ACC to be able to run a clip-on and you still need 1.5" rings/mount. I imagine the same holds true for the LSS.
In order to maintain the barrel channel the hood has to be high, our high scope base that we offer will co-witness with the LSS-XL Gen2 and ESS night vision offerings.
Yes, it's an aweful design. You need to run the high scope base and 1.5" rings to co-witness with a clip on. Makes a bubble level important too! It would be good of MDT to clearly state this in marketing material. There is also no hood available for the LSS gen2 (not LSS XL gen2), as the fore end is a different width.
