I'm wanting this chassis for a Tikka action but have read that the rear stock is in the way of properly running a cleaning rod through straight. I also swap scopes too much and am also concerned about bore sighting down the barrel with the stock in the way.

My question is, can the rear of the stock be removed easily for cleaning or would I need to remove the action from the chassis?

An Oryx does partially block a straight line from the rear. Cleaning with a bore guide and a flexible rod works fine. The view for bore sighting is at least half blocked depending on the caliber and the butt is not removable. The good side is that the ergos are really good and muzzle rise under recoil is minimal.

I dont have any problem with this with my Savage Oryx. I just recently put a Tikka on a MDT XRS chassis and much prefer that over my Savage oryx. Better looks, ergonomics and recoil management. They don't cost all that much more either.

I had one for a 700. Nothing wrong with it - but I just didn't like it. I made a bag rider - just could not get on with it. It just didn't fit me. Maybe the XRS could be a better fit - I like chassis guns too. I have MDT HM2 and an LSS.
