Went to the range this morning after a long night of work. I just wanted to see how the register of a 175gr bullet on steel at 500 meters sounds through the camcorder. Yesterday, I was putting nice groups on the same steel, 3-4 inches, with the same gun, ammo, and shooter. Today it was a little breezy, coming from about my 7:30, about 10mph. I knew wind would have an effect on the bullet path(duh!), but i figured it was a big enough piece of steel and I'd surely hit it - WRONG!

My shooting form wasn't stellar today, and it was just me, my gun, and a bipod - no sandbags, so I had a hard time staying right on target after the shot and wasn't seeing what the video was making so obvious. After reviewing the video and figuring I needed about 2MOA of wind correction about 10mph l-r at half value) we were GTG:

That last shot was a hit - you can see it ricochet into the dirt on the right, about 10 feet over. Through my scope, I saw it take out the last of that little 3" target I put up. It hit a crater in the steel which I think is why we don't hear a solid 'GONG'...
Ammo was factory Buffalo Bore match 175 SMK's - chrony'd, btw, at about 2725fps outa my 24" tube.
