    Well, ain't this a surprise:

At least four members of Congress have reaped benefits in some way from the half-trillion-dollar small-business loan program they helped create.

And no one knows how many more there could be.

It’s a bipartisan group of lawmakers who have acknowledged close ties to companies that have received loans from the program — businesses that are either run by their families or employ their spouse as a senior executive.

Republicans on the list include Rep. Roger Williams of Texas, a wealthy businessman who owns auto dealerships, body shops and car washes, and Rep. Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, whose family owns multiple farms and equipment suppliers across the Midwest. The Democrats count Rep. Susie Lee of Nevada, whose husband is CEO of a regional casino developer, and Rep. Debbie Mucarsel Powell of Florida, whose husband is an executive at a restaurant chain that has since returned the loan.

Expose them all. Come on, Mnuchin - give us the list.

This is beyond unimportant compared to insider trading they have been doing since ever and is legal for them and no one else.

I don't see why if they also happen to own businesses their business wouldn't qualify for funds under the same rules as everybody else.
It would seem that they should be treated the same as everyone else, if their businesses qualify for free money, I don't see why their businesses can't get it.

If you want to be outraged at something, get outraged at the banks many of whom purposely shafted small business clients to give all the first round money to the big companies so they could get more fees.

If it was used for actual business payroll I see no problem with that. They were paying people and not keeping the money. If it's found out later that the kept the money they should all go to jail.

If any of those Reps didn't abstain from the vote to fund the program they personally benefitted from:
    - they have no integrity (Yeah I know)
    - They don't understand the concept of conflict of interest and ethics and should be removed from office immediately.

Finally, if they used the money for its intended purpose fine, if they didn't prosecute to fullest extent of Federal Law.

I think that would be totally counter productive if you say folks can't have the same treatment as everyone just because they are also the ones elected to cast the votes.

The public has been busy voting themselves as much free stuff as they wanted, I'll be if you said if you live in xxx state you don't get money from xxx Fed program if the person you elected to represent you for your state voted for it, there would be a lynch mob after you.

The best thing is just simply to do exactly like what we want for the police and say we want for the politicians.
All the laws and benefits, taxes, handouts, and rules and privileges apply equally to everyone.

Kind of like the stupidity of the whole "stimulus" where if you happened to have paid a lot of taxes in 2019, sorry but you paid too much taxes in 2019, no money for you, it only goes to the ones who paid less to no taxes... regardless of if you could have really used the money in 2020 when the income for many, including the upper middle class were crashing.

Of course I'm also the kind that argues if you have any form of income tax it should be the exact same amount from $1 on up at the same rate, so the "poors" aren't trying to vote themselves not to have taxes.

I would prefer my politicians ans to all own businesses as then at least they understand how things go.

The real problem is "pure" politicians that are just simply there for the politics and have no skin in the game as to how their rules affect business owners and those trying to make a living / make a profit.

As long as they applied the law (and its associated restrictions) equally to themselves as to the rest of us, I don’t see the problem. Why should their employees be penalized (laid off) just because they work for a business owned by a Congress critter?

OK. You talked me off the ledge on most of my points.
