Rifle Scopes MEOPTA Optika 6 vs Leupold VX5 HD

Owned the Optika6, and have looked through the Leupold. Too my eyes, I gotta go wit the Leupold... Ya just gotta be more careful with it!

I have the Optika6 3-18x50. I'd previously had a Primary Arms 3-18 and it was a definite step up in pretty much every category though I find the windage knob to be a bit stiff and difficult to achieve just one click. There are half a dozen reticles available for the Optika6 but they do sell out of certain ones. I use mine on a POF 308 gas gun and it's great honestly, I really like the scope and it took care of a flaring issue I had at a range I use on a regular basis. Other than the windage turret, I don't have any issues with it. I did comment that it was a big scope when I first unboxed it.

The elevation is locking, the windage is capped. They include a capped option for the elevation if I remember correctly. Haven't looked in the box for some time. The turrets are rubberized and it has an aggressive knurling that's easy to grip. It doesn't look as "slick" as the Leupold from the photos I've seen but it's functional. Illumination is plenty bright and the glass is excellent overall from min to max. The eye-box is pretty good in isolation.

I then bought a Athlon Cronus BTRII, 4.5-29x56 and it was actually smaller in length than the Optika6 which was sort of a shock. Glass is perhaps a bit better and the turrets are more readily readable, with larger numerals and markings for up/down, left/right which is a nice touch for those who can't see shit close up. Turrets are ever so slightly better overall but it's splitting hairs. In short, it sort of highlighted a few issues with the Optika6 but I won't be changing the Optika out any time soon as they're minor differences. Not suggesting the Cronus as an option, more as just a reference for the Optika. Overall I'm very happy with it and not sure what else would really compete in the same price range. It's quite a bit less expensive than the Leupold in the same zoom range although the Leupold comes with a 56mm objective which is also an option on the Optika6.

I'd look at the reticles and what you can get with either the 50 or 56mm Optika and if they suit you, choose it vs. the Leupold and pocket a not insignificant amount of money.

What's he using it for, and what power range?

I want to try an optika 6, but the reticles do not work for me. Same goes for the vx-5, only one I have is the htmr.
