For a quick easy mover solution I usually use .6 mil per mph for shooting movers. I'm trying to come up with something easy, or even a simple formula for shooting movers based on kph. Would like to see some formulas that guys are using. I can do the math to convert MPH to KPH, but looking for something that's a little more "on the fly" so to speak. Did some searching but didn't see just what I wanted. Thanks

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

Totally dependent on flight time (caliber), I would think. And converting to metric won't simplify things like it does with mil-ranging.

There's no taking advantage of a base-10 system if you're dealing in random times up to 2-3 seconds. It's going to be just as ugly in metric.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

I run my movers on my ballistic program, JBM, and have it on the side of my rifle and in my data cards. I am sure there is a formula but the easiest way is to be able to look down and see what you need. I run them at 2mph for a walking man and can adjust off that.

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

Yeah I use JBM and have all of that stuff In my head. I came across something the other day and it was asking to convet cm to mils. I can do it by conveting cm to inches to moa to mil, but was just curious if somebody had something different.

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

Euh, CMs is part of Mills....0.6 mill as mentioned in this thread, equals 6 cm @ 100m. So like Rob asks...why do the complecated thing of converting the cm's to inches and then back to mils again, when you already have the answer???

NK.

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

I was actually trying to come up with something that could be used for places other than the US that deal in all metrics. There are metric formulas for range estimation. But nothing I could find delt with movers and metrics. Maybe nothing is supposed to. Optics only adjust in MOA or MIls to the best of my knowledge.

Re: metric formulas for moving targets???

Doesn't matter what they deal in but what you deal in with your scope and set up. The only thing you might have to convert is yards into meters if you have your data in yards.

I think you are trying to do something that doesn't matter in real application. Run your charts with movers and you can use them anywhere.
