I just watched this the other night on cable and after the movie was over wondered why I had not seen it sooner. It is a great movie in which they show the IRA in a positive light and Irelands fight for freedom of a free state. I takes place back in the early 1900s and follows close to historical facts. I was happy to see a film that was not showing the IRA as being a bunch of monsters; they were no different than the USA fighting for freedom from England. The cast is some of my favorites like Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Aiden Quinn. If you like these types of movies then this is a must watch!

I'll have to watch it. There is another movie that portrays the 1920s in Ireland called the The Wind That Shakes the Barley that was pretty good I believe. Not many big name actors but Cillian Murphy who plays the evil doctor in the Batman Begins.

So far, the only thing I've like Cillian Murphy in is a Syfy Fic called Sunshine. Pretty good actor, but chooses poor roles.

Michael Collins carries the same burden most docudramas do; the truth is neither conveniently pure and refreshing, nor especially configured to be entertaining. Looking past that, the movie did much to flesh out my grandmother's tales about 'the tribbles'.

No love for Inception or 28 Days Later?
