I'm currently looking for a knife to put on the shoulder strap of my hunting pack as an oh shit just in case blade. I have a kabar, but its so damn big it's a bit akward hanging on the strap for me at least. I have been looking at the Microtech Crosshair and the Benchmade Nimravus and Adamas. If the Adamas did not have the big serrations on the top of the blade it would be perfect. I really like the looks and the double edge of the crosshair but someone has told me it's a good knife but not worth a $250 price tag. Would like to hear from people who have any of these 3 blade or even something similiar.

What sorta situtaion do you anticipate using the knife are you looking for a survival blade a fighting knife or something else. Personally I love my gerber infantry as a survial knife its tough as nails although it is a large knife.

It will just be something I can grab easily for whatever situation may arise while walking around hunting, camping , etc. I realize its something I probably won't use often, I always have my glock on me if something were to charge out from some brush. I was mainly lookin at benchmade and microtech though because of the steel. I purchased 3 benchmades this year and have been so happy with the edge they hold.

Nimravus is one of the best out there in my opinion and has always been a favorite of mine---I have owned several Microtechs and they are great but I am no fan of the double edge!

Re: Microtech Crosshair?

I got a Adamas for christmas this year and I have to put my vote for it. I was a little iffy about the serrated back section at first but after taking it as my primary knife on a few camping trips it worked itself out. There is a section right before the serrations that will fit a good portion of your thumb which aids in fine blade control. The big back scallops are not too sharp but make easy work of para-cord and small ropes. The best thing about it to me is that you can strap in just about anywhere, either using the belt loop lock Benchmade ships with the knife or just any cord/string sitting around utilizing the holes in the sheath.

I forgot to mention that the Adams is also made of D2 tool steel and is above 60 Rockwell. That again has it's pluses and minuses. It will hold a sharper edge longer but is more brittle
