Probably something is crooked BUT if the rifle shoots good groups, just in the wrong place, and the scope is 1" tube... well the Burris rings with the eccentric plastic inserts are probably the fastest and most cost effective solution. I have "fixed" several sporterized military rifles that were not D&T quite right by using them.
A lot easier than welding up old holes and redoing the D&T job. They also NEVER leave ring marks on a scope.
