Rifle Scopes Mil/mil scope

I have been looking into get a bushnell elite tactical 10x40. The adjustment knobs are 1/10th mil. I not sure I completely understand how the whole thing works. This what I understand... Say your target is 1000 yards your bullet drop is 25.3 moa. You would divid 25.3 by 3.43 and get 7.4 mil. With the the scope on zero you would turn the knob until you are 7 then go .4 mils pass that and you should be dead on. If of corse your Zeroed right. That's how I understood it, please let me know if I'm right or wrong any help would be great. Thanks

Correct, most people use 1 mil = 3.6 MOA

I didnt check the math, but the basics are correct. The Bushnell has 5 mil/revolution turrets though, so you would make one complete revolution and then 2.4 mils more.

If whatever ballistics program you are using has the option, change your bullet drop to mils and this will be much simpler.

1 MOA = 1.047" at 100
1 Mil = 3.6" at 100
3.6 divided by 1.047 = 3.438

So, Mils to MOA multiply by 3.438; MOA to Mils divide by 3.438.

Thats the slightly more difficult way to do it...If your reticle is a Mil-dot, and you adjustments are .1Mil, just calculate your drop chart straight in Mil as well..

If you want to go the whole hog and work in meters for distance, it thing gets even easier, at least math wise anyway..

Mils are not actually a metric unit, but IMHO, Mils/Meters go well together as they a both base10/decimal systems...

Haha! I'm one of the few MOA/MOA guys. Only time I have to worry about it is if a MIL shooter is spotting and if I'm converting in my head 3.6 MOA/1 MIL is close enough! See ya in August!

If you have a mil/mil scope, why are you worried about MOA/inches?

It is better to convert it to cubits.

I planed to do a drop chart I'm mils. I just wanted to make sure I understood right. Right now I have a ncstar 10x40x50 mark III. Trying to make my life easier.

Basically.

As these gentleman have said, run you drop table in Mils. Now the advantage is that no matter if you are holding or dialing you only have to look at/memorize one table.
