Rifle Scopes Millet LRS or Viper 6.5x20x50

I have a Millet LRS and I love it. It has tons of adjustment. It magnifies to 25x and is really clear at 25x also (now I haven't used any $2-3000 scopes so I'm sure it's not the clearest). The illuminated reticle and side focus knobs are nice. The turrets are big and easy to grip. That being said, for my next rifle I'm not sure if I should get another Millet LRS or if I should try the Viper that I listed in the title with a mildot reticle. They are within $50 of each other so the price isn't really much of a factor. The rifle I'm buying is a 700P in .300WM and right now my rifle is a .308 Rem 700SPS-V which currently has the Millet LRS scope on it. So another thing I have been considering is getting a Millet TRS and put it on my .308 and put the LRS on the .300WM since eventually I will need the extra adjustment on the .300WM. The TRS still has 100 MOA of adjustment too. What would you guys do?

I can tell you that I know of a Millett that broke due to the recoil of a 300RUM, but they gave him a new one and it worked great so it might not be a common problem. That being said, I don't have much more advice for you with them. Maybe also check out Falcon scopes as well if you haven't already. Their ML16 Reticle is awesome and it's mil/mil or moa/moa. This person who had the Millett also said he wished he had gone this route. There's a used one for sale right now for a damn good price. I know this wasn't one of your options just trying to give you something else to check out.

I've heard of that, but I know the LRS like I have is made to handle the .50. Mine works great and I love it, I just haven't really used anything else of decent quality. And Millet/Bushnell's customer service is great.

A while back the Falcon Menace was mentioned to me. I saw the one in the "for sale" about an hour ago. Haven't heard much about these but I'm willing to consider everything in this price range, even though I love the scope I have now. Thanks for the info with that.

I've heard of that, but I know the LRS like I have is made to handle the .50. Mine works great and I love it, I just haven't really used anything else of decent quality. And Millet/Bushnell's customer service is great.

No problem just trying to give you the only advice I can. I agree with you about the customer service. I know the Millett that broke was replaced no questions asked and I've heard the same of Bushnell and I do own a Bushnell so it makes me happy knowing this. I'd highly consider that Falcon Menace in the for sale section. For the price you can get base and rings and spend less than you would for any of them new. I would've bought the damn thing if I hadn't gotten the deal I did on the Bushnell I bought.

Some things i heard from reviews, the glass quality isnt on par with Vortex, but the features it presents are nicer. MIL/MIL FFP reticle, but the knobs are hit and miss apparently with the mushyness or what have you. Shadowing, eye relief, and brightness seem to fade, even more so with higher magnification. thats why i turned to the vortex.

I am the guy Snipedogg is referring to. My first Millet LRS worked great until the 25th round was fired out of a 300 RUM. At round 26 the erector tube came loose. When I took it off the rifle to send back to SWFA, where I purchased it, the lenses rattled like a pop can full or rocks. I can say that SWFA was a breeze to deal with in rectifying situation. That being said, the replacement they sent me has had zero problems, tracks perfectly, returns to zero no problem, has 120 moa adjustment, eye box is huge (which was a blessing on the 300 RUM), glass is decent, and it is useable all the way to 25x.

In respect to Millet, I have the TRS on my 308, and I dont think I could ask for a better scope for the price point. My main deciding factor was the mil/mil. Alot to be said about not having to do a mil/moa conversion, to achieve POA/POI. I purchased these so I could shoot my rifles waiting for the Viper PST's.

Like Snipedogg said, if I could do it all again, I would have went with the FFP Falcoln's, but that not being a choice you offered I have to give a biased opinion as I have only used the Millet's but I am holding out for the Vortex Viper PST.

Millet scopes are alright, but I'm going to recommend you go with the Viper. You won't be disappointing. They are great scopes. Well built and rugged with glass that, in my opinion, is well above their price point. I've got three of them now and I love 'em.

I sent my Millet LRS scope in to be repaired. A few weeks ago when I did a 1000 yard shoot. I found that I had to adjust my windage about 10 MOA to get back on target. Later that day I went home and found that when I adjusted my elevation that the cross hairs would cant outward.
The picture is over exaggerating what was happening.

I sent my scope back and it took about 4 working days for them to receive it on 12/15/10. The guy I talked to on the phone (and yes he sounded like a red blooded American) said that the scope repair will probably take 3 to 4 weeks so I figure next year in January sometime I will receive it back. He also said that I should keep an eye in the mail for a card telling me my repair tracking number.

A few days ago I got my repair tracking number and check that status of my repair on Monday and it said it was awaiting inspection. I check the status on Tuesday and it said awaiting shipment.

And today they posted my UPS tracking number and I should receive it on Friday.

I called Bushnell to find out what they found and they said they were able to repair it and that the windage and elevation mechnision was out of adjustment and they were able to realign it. They also found that my focus wasn't setup correctly and were able to fix that as well. They cleaned the scope and it passed its "Quals".

I'll see what I get back from them, but sounds like sweat shop labor in China didn't setup the scope correctly during manufacturing.

i would go with the viper, or the falcon. i have had all three scopes, and would but those two again. had 2 LRS and both failed within 70 to 100 rds in my 300wm. the glass on the falcons and vortex scopes are better to my eyes.
