Wanting to pick up this terrava jakkarii pukka with no grip.

Will probably remove foundry scale, and tigerstripe the blade with vinegar, mustard, and Sriracha sauce.

Then add bank line to enhance grip and bank line can be used for cordage and emergency tinder.

I don’t think the line itself will be, but it may trap moisture under it causing corrosion.
For the price I would make sure I neutralized the acid from patterning, oil or wax it and not worry about it.

Kind of depends on what your intended uses will be. If you're going to use it as a camp knife where you're going to be prepping food with it I would recommend Camellia oil, butcher block, or bees wax. If you're not expecting to eat with or do food prep then any rust preventative oil, or a wax like Minwax or SC Johnson paste wax. If you go with a wax its easier to apply if you heat the knife up in your oven to like 250-300 deg F. then rub the wax in. Don't go hotter or you risk altering the tempering. Ovens have a pretty wide temp swing, so you want to keep the temp well below tempering range, which is probably around 400F with that steel.
