New to the hide and i am looking for some opinions on the Minox line of optics. I am in the middle of my first build (sps aac-sd)and need help deciding on some glass. I am trying to keep it on a budget so right at $400 or under would be ideal.
I have a 2-10X40 and the glass is very nice. I have not been to the range with it yet but will be testing it out this weekend. I am not sure how well it would perform as a tactical scope but for hunting/target shooting I think they would do just fine as long as they hold zero and track well.
being that they are assembled in the states i would feel like reticle issues shouldnt be a factor, but anything is possible i guess. what reticle do you have, the BDC or Plex?
plex. I thought about the BDC but I have had them in the past and have never liked them. I actually bought a Minox because they are assembled in the USA which is not that common anymore.
Went to the range this morning and it was windy as hell. I was able to zero the scope and do a small tracking test and everything went well. The scope returned to zero after all adjustments and held zero well. I will need to do a larger test and also check durability over the long run but so far so good.
Im looking at the same model you purchased, but i think ill go with the BDC reticle Even though my experience with other BDC reticles in the past have not been favorable. i.e. the nikon buckmaster bdc. Glad to here your first tests went well.
I have the 5-20x50 and my only complaint is the elevation knob does not move up as you dial in more elevation. If you dial in to 600 yards, later you can't just glance at the elevation turret to see where you are.
I have the 4-20 and it is great glass for the money. I like the minoplex reticle because it is a little thicker than the plex I have on my Swarovski and I have a bit of astigmatism that blurs the thinner reticle. So, the Minoplex shows up better for me than the plex. Mine has run fine for about 5 months on a .308. No problems with tracking and crisp correct changes with the clicks on the turret.
