Re: Missile Launch off the coast of LA
Okay, so the location of nuclear subs is pretty much the biggest secret we have, so the Navy saying, "We didn't do it" isn't all that big a help... But at the same time, launching a missile like that just outside of one of the biggest seaports in the world...Not something the US Navy would do. However, if you were China, you had a brand new batch of Nuc Missile boats that, for the first time, were able to operate outside of your coastal waters, and you wanted to do some serious sabre rattling, this looks like just the thing. To me, this appears to be an INFO OP by China similar to our steaming carrier battle groups through the Taiwan Straight when we're pissed at them. The guy they interviewed in the video said it was something we did to scare the commies back in the day...No, you don't launch Nuc's from YOUR coast, you launch them from your enemies coast, or as close as you can possibly get so the warning time is limited to a few minutes and negates a retaliatory strike. The commies were PROBABLY trying to scare US back then and we just spun it like it was our missile from our sub. Now we just aren't that quick I guess. "I dunno who mysteriously launched a large missile 35 miles off the coast of LA..." is NOT a comforting message. I dunno, seems pretty clear to me what happened. I mean, when was the last time the US decided to randomly test a ship launched ballistic missile off the coast of LA? I know the Air Force launches off of Vandenberg all the time, but that doesn't mess with the shipping lanes like this would. Bah, what do I know. It was all just an optical illusion of a weather balloon.
