    Hey guys, need some advice.

I sent my "Brand X" trigger back to the manufacturer for repair/replacment. Sent it via USPS insured. 2 days later it was confirmed delivered at the company, but they say that they never received it. USPS says that it will take a minimum of 21 days to submit my claim from the day that it was delivered and then possibly up to 60 days to get a decision regarding my claim.

In the meantime, trigger company says I'll just have to buy a new trigger which they were going to replace anyway and IF my original trigger shows up they'll refund me.

I think I'm more just venting at a frustrating situation. But I've also never had anything lost by USPS before. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.

Has anyone else had any experience with USPS insurance claims?
    How did it turn out??

    Thanks for listening.

Good question. I think the USPS offers a signature confirmation on some forms of mail, in addition to delivery confirmation. My guess is that the company lost it and USPS will conclude it was delivered. That's when you present their findings to the company and hope they do the right thing.

My only experiences with insurance claims are with UPS, and it's very ugly.

The more stories I hear, the less I bother paying for insurance, sadly I think you're screwed.

You can hope that they delivered to the wrong address, next door maybe, they'll open the package and see that it's not for them and walk it to the right place.

As mentioned above, signature required is probably the best addition to insurance so that you can say and show that it was (or wasn't) signed for by an employee of the receiving end.

From now on, that's what I'm going to do....without a name I can't say for sure who received it...I am a little dissapointed in the trigger company though....But I can't blame them if they truly never received the trigger. Who's to say people don't claim to send triggers in for replacement all the time...I dunno.

This sucks...Guess I'm gonna have to drop the cash on another trigger...

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

I just discovered that $740 worth of checks I sent to my bank for deposit never made it. I mailed them over 3 weeks ago, so I go to the post office and they tell me to wait another 30 days just to see if they show up, and if they don't then I am to consider it lost for ever. Of course there is no way of tracking it. I contacted the people that I had been paid by and of course the checks had not been cashed, so it really did get lost at the post office. USPS sucks, and they wonder why people are using their services less and less all the time. The good news is the people that had paid me were good to deal with and are sending me new checks...Sorry about your luck man.

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

    yeah....
it does suck...I'm going to go with ups and fedex from now on...I don't know if they're any better, but their customer service seems to be better...

I thought about getting a different trigger too. Just didn't get the vibe of "i'm on your side" with the trigger company....I don't think I have many choices with a howa 1500 though....so, there I'm SOL..

I don't own a parts company but I would figure if I were going to send a new replacement part for a part that needed to be replaced I wouldn't charge the customer to purchase another part while waiting for the other one to just show up somehwere while there is positive delivery confirmation.... I know they don't have anything solid to prove my case and the blame is probably with USPS, but whose to say that the company didn't lose it in a shuffle???

all in all, it sucks...at least it's just a trigger and not a whole rifle.

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

Give it a couple more days, stuff seems to show up sometimes. I once had a priority mail envelope take 15 days to get to TX when others have taken 2. Also had something NEVER show up in the tracking system and it was delivered in 3 days.

Think positive and keep your fingers crossed.

    Frogman,

If I understand your post correctly your issue is NOT with the USPS but with the trigger company.

    Your story is:

    You mailed the trigger insured.
    USPS indicated it was delivered.
Trigger company says that they don't have it.

One of the two is lying. If the USPS has evidence that it was delivered, and signed for, then the trigger company has your trigger, and they lost it.

That is not the USPS's problem. Nor will they make good on an insurance claim where an item was delivered properly and on time. Your issue is with the trigger company, not the Postal Service.

The USPS can and does screw-up routinely. It appears however, from the evidence you have listed, it is the trigger company that lost it.

Hope you can get them squared away...

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

To be perfectly honest...I'm not sure who I have issues with...I don't know who to hold responsible. But you are right, mostly I would like the trigger company to say, "well since you have a delivery confirmation and we can't find it, we'll take care of you anyway and send you a new trigger."

That would make sense to me from a customer service standpoint.
Even if they truly didn't receive the trigger and the USPS did lose it, I would rather make a customer happy than make things messy and put a customer in the middle...

That being said I have no doubt in my mind that it is possible that USPS could have lost the trigger somehwere in route..it's possible, this would be a first time occurence for me which apparently is a pretty good track record....

In anycase. I hope it gets resolved one way or another. I hope the trigger shows up or USPS will approve my claim on the insurance even though they have a positive delivery to the company.

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

I'd be a lot less suspicious if the trigger company reported receiving the envelope/box but it was empty.

Something's rotten in Denmark. I can tell you that this company is dropping the ball by not even offering mere sympathy and the feeble promise of expediting your work ASAhumanlyP when the discrepancy is resolved. I'm not detecting even a hint of "we'll take care of you".

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

I don't even bother with signature conformation anymore. They scratch something that isn't even legible so there isn't any proof of who signed for it.

I bought an electronic scale from a member, and when I received it the box and the scale were damaged. USPS finally honored the claim but it took three months!

Re: Missing trigger! USPS or Trigger Company???

I try at all cost not to ship with usps, I have only had one claim and that was with UPS. Just know what is required if you need to file a claim. Usually a bill of sale ect.

If I could find the one I had it was all fd up. It said it was lost due to "train Derailment" WTF. but I provided the requested documents and they had me a check in the mail in about 3 days.

I know USPS is about useless and can take well over 30-45 days just to start the process.
