Noticed a neat sale on Ebay.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Navy-SEAL-u...444202?hash=item25d2cd0faa:g:YfYAAOSwSlBY3TlJ

Ive seen the McMillan return stocks from the M40s but didnt realize that the big gun parts made it into our world. Nice to build a tribute or clone that has some legit history.

Not my sale, I stick to affordable calibers, but it seemed like an item people on here would find use for if they knew about it.

Phil, thanks for starting up this thread! I'm the ebay seller for these stocks, so if anyone has questions about them, post it here or shoot me a PM.

These are the real deal and Kelly McMillan has authenticated them. I'm keeping a few for my own collection and will be listing 2 more this week. These are perfect for a clone built, I'm going to be sending a box of parts to Alan Brown in the near future. Alan was one of the gunsmiths at Crane who built these Mod 0 rifles for the SEALs, so he's the perfect smith for a clone build! He used to be with High Caliber Sales, but now works by himself; his website is ajbrownarms.net.

This is one that I'm keeping for myself, it's an early contract grey stock that a SEAL sniper painted green (kinda bright in the pic, a little darker in person).

The cool thing about this stock is it has a repair tag from 1994!

Need to decide if I want to keep these or sell them!

So awesome, pieces of history literally

It would be really awesome if someone had thought about writing their serial number down of the rifle they used when assigned and could now come back and snag one of these sticks and build a clone

    Good luck on the sales

I put a few rounds thru a couple of these to check groups after some work for the NSWC Crane armorer back in 92 or 93. That special lug they used on the standard R700LA with a 26" Hart or McMillan 10" twist barrel put 3 rounds of A191 into a 1-1.5" group at 300yds off a sling on a sandbag.

    Mean rifles. Just plain mean.

HCS/Alan Brown built me a version but I took some "creative license" and added BadgerDBM, McM A5 stock and Ops Inc 3rd model. The Lilja 1:10 at 26.5" would hammer (with authority) a 12" plate at 1000yds with 208AMAXs at 2950.

Sold that rifle on here about 4 years ago and hated myself for it. Have another under construction at RWS as we speak.

I have only seen one other certified mk13 stock sold. It was ludicrously expensive, almost as much as my entire 700/300 build. These appear to be even nicer examples than that one. Leaving the operators dope on the stocks is a nice touch. You have a treasure trove there.

Im amazed you get the stock, the rail, the trigger bow and the guts complete. Its like a drop in build once you have your barreled action.

I never see stuff like this sell so complete.

Im jaded by those Ebay sellers that list a Pre 64 Win Model 70 trigger bow in a separate auction from the matching magazine floor plate rather than a complete assembly.

You're definitely right on the money with this, all that's left is for someone to add a barreled action! I had to get a local CNC shop to custom make the "L" shaped recoil lugs just so I could add them to these stock packages. This was a substantial cost, but I figured it was a necessary one. I assume some people are going to build clones on the stocks and they really wouldn't be able to do so without this specialized recoil lug. And a big thanks to Marty from Badger Ordnance for providing me with the lug specs!

These 2 auctions end today, but I'll be listing 2 more. One of which is very unique.........

Interesting buttpad and with the cheek piece cut like it is and the knob where it is, I would think this a southpaw. I would presume the velcro on the grip to be for a PEQ-2 switch.

This is the only Mk13 Mod 0 stock I've seen with a cut cheekpiece, definitely modified by the sniper and not by the NSWC Crane armorers. You might be right about the velcro on the grip, but I have no idea. The cheekpiece screw is on the let side because I pulled the cheekpiece off to look at the foam on the underside (was put there to keep the height set for the sniper) and I put the damn thing on the wrong side. Didn't notice until after I took the pics and listed on ebay.

However, I have seen 1 or 2 stocks that have the cheekpiece screw on the left side. the circular mark left on the the cheekpiece from the knob is clearly evident and would have been used by a left handed shooter. Why they didn't just get a left handed Mod 1 is beyond me. I'll get a few pics of an actual lefty cheekpiece on a right handed stock when I have some more time.

Also not sure what bushing you're referring too in the other post. The stocks don't have pillars for the actions screws, but they do have a pillar for the lug screw. The screw heads are the socket cap style, but I have seen a few that are the countersunk flattop style. In fact, the painted stock on ebay right now comes with countersunk flat head screws for the action and a socket cap style for the recoil lug. These screws were in the stock when I received it, so I'm assuming they are original to this stock. The interesting thing about the socket head screw is it sits flush with the stock, whereas all the other screws of this type I've seen sit proud in their stock. Not sure if any of this is helpful, but it's the best I can do in describing it. Again, I'll take some pics and get them posted so everyone can see what the hell I'm rambling about.

Just an aside concerning left hand/right hand bolt guns.

I went to a class and there was a student there that had been issued a left hand gun despite his right handedness. It was an XM-3 variant and appeared to be a nice rifle. I'm sure his department was hesitant to spend the money and leave a gun idle.

He was able to run that thing dynamite. His finger never moved any further than the ready position and he ran the bolt with his left hand. He was in the scope with his trigger finger only a slight movement down from being ready to go the whole time

I guess as long as you have the left arm strength to cam out a sticky case it didn't seem a bad way to go.

The only issue I see is getting in the habit of once the bolt closes by your left hand you immediately pull the trigger with your right.
