Ok hive mind, I just sold a scope I haven’t been using, so the fun budget is flush-ish and I want a LPVO. Initially was about to pull the trigger on the NX8 when I remembered shooting my buddy’s mk6. I can get either one used for about the same price. Flavor choice would be either the NX8 in Mrad or the mk6 CMR-W. Does anyone have both? I guess either one holds resale well enough that I could just get one and re-sell it if I didn’t like it.

The other thing I’ve thought about is looking at the Sig 6t and saving some coin.

Going on a 14.7 that usually gets shot suppressed. Most shooting would be done at 1x. I’m just sick of having to bring binos or another rifle with more magnification so see hits at longer ranges, and i don’t mind throwing money at the problem.

Anyone have strong opinions?

I had a 1-6x24 with the CMR-W 7.62 on my ACC and it was very consistent with my hand loads (175 smk) to 600 using the reticle itself. Glass is great, illumination was daylight bright. I was quick with it on 1x. Will prob buy another one soon. I’ve also shot my buddy’s LaRue with an NX8. Also a good scope, solid glass and illumination. Though the extra 2x magnification was nice, I prefer the Leupold simply due to the reticle working so well as a bdc.

I was also easily able to see .30 cal bullet holes in paper at 100 (200 when I use Shoot-N-See targets with both scopes.

beyond 200 i only shoot steel.

Longer ranges, seeing hits, changing sighting system to accomplish this?
The short answer, coming from me would be why do you not have binos? If you think spotting the targets with 6x works for you I would respectfully suggest replacing this option in your search.

I am an admitted scope snob. But Leupold Mk 6 is a fine scope. Make sure you are looking at the one that has true 1x. Some of the earlier Mk6 scopes were rated 1.1x. The NX8 is nice, and lightweight and perfect for shooting. The 1-6x scopes - Razor and the Sig T6 are the same scope internal. Sig won an Army contract for LPVO in 2nd focal plane, Nighforce won for FFP. The Sig and Razor are going to give your more tactical abilities, like a larger eyebox for two eye open shooting, but if you are target shooting that is not needed. The NX8 is very popular. The Leupold Mk6 is more of a vintage variety, but solid. Why not get 8x if you can?

Not that disclosure is needed, but we are dealers for all the brands you mentioned. the Razor 1-6x and the NX8 1-8x are the more popular sellers. Up-budget is the ATACR 1-8x or the Razor 1-10x, which are both popular and a little harder to find in-stock.

Scope snob here as well. All the other scopes I have left are Minox ZP5s.

a couple of things in particular swayed me toward the mk6 from the NX8:
- locking elevation
- Finer aiming point at high mag
- arguably better bdc (not that I have anything against straight up mrad reticles. See above)
- equally blindingly bright dot at 1x

main things I see gaining from the NX8 are another 2x mag, and smaller size, but losing the locking turret.
Obviously this boils down to “do what you want, man” like all of these scope threads. Just didn’t know if somebody had first hand experience with both and could point one way or the other.

@SporterII stop poking holes in my made-up self-justification for buying the thing I wanted anyway.

I’m curious about the 1-6 thing. Are the razor and tango6 1:1 internally? How about the T6 ffp model?
