I recently got grandad's Model 37 Rangemaster shooting again and was hitting targets at 400-yds with it, albeit those hits were walked on to target like artillery! Anyway, I had a blast ringing steel at 178-yds all day with an old box of Federal my cousin found and gave to me.

I do have some questions about this rifle....it belonged to my wife's grandad and he passed 20 years ago before we met. It must have been his trainer rifle as it's set up just like his 1903 that he used at Perry in the 50's and 60's. I just swap the Unertl back and forth from this to the '03.

    Two questions:
    1. How do I remove the bolt?
    2. Where can I find a mag for it? Right now it has a block and is single feed only.

Mags are available but expensive. I once found a boa of NOS 37 mags. They sold for 275 each IIRC. I think the ss adaptor actually brings more. You could possibly trade for one??

Some need you to pull trigger and fully close bolt. Then press trigger forward and open and retract bolt. Can not recall details on 37 just now. It will be one of three ways, release(doubutul) pull and remove (doubtful) or pull, press forward then remove. (Likely)

Go to rim fire central for information on your rifle ,,, you need to make a tool ( I used a 4” piece of clothes hanger wire ) to reach in the port with the bolt open , You will see a small hole , insert in the hole push and then pull the trigger ,the sear goes down , remove the bolt

Those are great rifles. You will enjoy that rifle, I believe the 37 is the best smallbore target rifle built in the USA.

I own 5 of them, I prefer the 37 over any of my 40-X or 52's. I still shoot one of my 37's in 4 position leagues, I prefer it over my Anschutz 1813, granted that 37 is in an international stock with all Anschutz 1913 accessories. I have a 37 that was built by Karl Kenyon that is an absolute hammer as a prone rifle.

To remove the bolt you have to pull and hold the trigger back, lift the bolt handle and pull the bolt back as far as it will go. You will see a round hole in the ejector block, with the trigger pulled use a small punch (paper clip) and push the sear down until the bolt comes out. Push down on the sear gently.
