This is a 52 D stock that I reshaped for a older style look.

Re: Modified 52 stock

I agree very nice indeed. How/what did you use to stiple the stock? How about the butt pad it does not look like a Winchester white line. Did you install it, if so how do you like it. More than just curious as I've got two 52d's that do not have a butt pad on the stocks. Donald

Re: Modified 52 stock

The butt pad is sold by O K Webber, it is a Freeland design made by Mershon. This is a pad that has been around for a while and looks good on Target Rifles. The cost $10.00. I installed the pad and it is very easy to do. The pad sands very easily and has no metal plate that would limit size. The stippling was done using a Tandy Leather, leather working tool A118. This is a background tool. I have tried a number of stippling tools including Brownells, none really worked for me. I happened to have this tool and gave it a try. I have stippled at least 6 stocks with this tool and it shows no sign of wearing out. I use a small mallet striking the tool according to the piece of wood. The secret is rotating the tool between each strike. It takes a while to complete but gives a nice effect. I also have a post for a Winchester 52 Stock that was done with the same tool.
